Sighted in the replacement scope for my Rem Model 25 32-20 today. $350 for a 3/4" tube scope! I like it! I did the 10 click square and it came right back to where I started. Cool beans. Nice clear glass. My only wish is that it had a duplex reticule. Ah well . . .
The Rem came with a fuzzy Weaver 330c that went to the eBay not long after I bought the gun but those extra holes in the barrel and receiver have been calling for the scope to be mounted again. Interesting thing - my group size was exactly the same as with the Lyman 1A that sits on the back of the receiver and a 6" black bull. I just can't see a squill head in the woods through the peep unless I'm real close. Danger squills, better hide now that we're sporting the Leatherwood M73G4.

I've got a few 330s I've mounted on various rifles.. They have a lot of eye relief close to 4-5 " IIRC
The new ones close to that?

Perhaps the assembly factory won't spring for hollow ground screwdrivers. I hadn't noticed. You would think a company like Leatherwood would have better qc.

My Winchester M61 takes down the same way, but it has a 4X Bushnell scope with duplex crosshairs with which my old eyes can see well enough to shoot sqill in the head. I do not have the nice take down case though. Pic of grandson at the range shooting rifle:

I put my glasses on and looked closer. That screw and the one beside it are the buggered ones. That one is the worst. The line that looks like a scratch was a line of aluminum from the base. I took an old 3/4" tube scope and used it to lap the bases and did not relieve the square edges.
I've purchased some scope mounts from Leatherwood, and never had issues like that. I'd probably contact them and give them a little piece of my mind about heavy handed screw work like that on a brand new scope!
Looks great.......I was getting ready to tell you that the gun will not shoot any better with the scope until I read that you already said that.! I've done that several times but the true advantage is that the scope will help you "see" better. I like taking guns like that with minimal recoil and setting up a hundred clay birds on the berm from distances of 50-200 meters and blasting away. You can see them explode in the optics.
Last week I was looking for something weird to do so I installed this 1950's Weaver 2.5 power scope on this green anodized Colt 6920 and you know what...best scope I ever put on an AR. ZERO problems seeing and blasting clay birds to 300 meters with not much more of an issue to 400 meters and yes....further. They look like dots out there but the bullet drops right on in there.
Gonna buy me one of those new Vortex scopes in low power so I can have more brightness and clarity than the ancient Weaver
