Obscure pick-up trucks

The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

As a kid in the '50s, I saw several of these. A neighbor had one of the Dodges he drove as his daily driver in the '60s. Cool, old p/us.

Here is a restored Dodge Power Wagon:

I've seen all except the Tempo and the Mercedes. But, those are likely only ever seen in Europe.

As to rare and obscure, There were more Power Wagons made than these. You only see more, if you do, because they are of a later vintage.

For many years my Daddy and I had a 1943 Dodge Command Car. You know, like the one Patton rode across North Africa and then most of the length of Italy. Somehow ours never went across the pond. Wore re-caps from the factory.

When I worked for ACD another employee had a Hudson pickup. He had put a Jaguar engine in it. Circa 1964?

But... like other things EU, it'll have a gutless 4 cyl, slushy auto trans... I sure hope not... nothing like a torquey stovebolt I-6 or big HP V-8 paired to a granny low 4-spd with big tires to soak up the little bumps and dips in off-roadin' to get me ready to pluck some hard earned cash down...

My favorite old trucks have always been those that used the passenger car style front sheet metal! Something about that style that makes them look classier to my eye, and just prettier. I love the Australian Utes they have offered or made over the years! They seemed to be the inspiration for the Ford Ranchero and Chevy El Camino.
