I was checking my property and found this. The void is about 200 feet long and an unknown depth. Helluva way to go.

Bad Lands of South Dakota hand some deep holes, I once dropped bout a 40 pound rock
down one & never heard it hit a thing, after that I stayed away from them

Would it be possible to fly a small illuminated drone down in there?
That might be safer than a human climbing down in.

You may have discovered a new cavern system like Carlsbad caverns.Here in Washington,just south of Mt. StHellens a dozen miles or so, is the Ape Cave. They are volcanic vent tubes formed thousands of years ago. Those caves go for many miles underground. I have been down one for more than a mile.
Once my dad fired off his .41 magnum under there, it liked to defen us all and the echo went on for a long time.

West Virginia is certainly famous for caves. If I was with someone who was better than myself at rigging ropes, I would go down it. If the air coming out is warm, it may just be a shallow system. Are you over limestone bedrock?

I'd bet that bats may be using that place as a roost site. Some of them are important consumers of insect pests. Check it out some evening around sunset and shortly thereafter. Flash photos would be interesting.
