NEW .22 cal revolver...

I've owned a couple of .22 cal pistols and revolvers in the past (I will start crying if I start mentioning any of my old choices, especially anything that had S&W attached to it), recently I have two. I own a 1957 Ruger Single-Six (I bought it for $75.00 at my LE Agencies auction), a Ruger LCR-22 (8-shot), and now I just purchased a Ruger SP-101 in .22 cal. (8-shot)...can't wait to take it out and shoot it, way too busy this week to go, but hopefully next week... :)

Nice....Can't have too many .22 shooters.....I've had the same 101 for a few years. I don't seem to shoot it much, but it sure is accurate.

The first gun I wanted was a Single Six convertible, back in the early 70's - I actually never got one until 2005 or so, but it is just a COOL gun. I don't shoot it enough to deserve it... but maybe I can rectify that this weekend...

I see you like Rugers........in my opinion, the best "meat and potatoes" revolvers....or rifles.....ever to be made. I can't ever remember anyone telling me that they wore out a Ruger. I do have one single action 357 that spits a little but it does have close to 10g's out of it.

My buddy at Targetmaster has a difficult time keeping Ruger double action .22's in stock. The single actions will sit but those little 8 shots fly out the door.

As a cop, you know....no one wants to get shot.....even with a .22.

just watched a cold case file episode that took 45 years to discover who killed 2 LEOs with a 22 revolver, three shots each, killed 'em dead.

I think the LCR would be a viable defense option if someone has trouble with semi-autos.

What's the trigger pull like on the LCR?

How do you like the LCR 22?

It's a ton of fun to shoot, light-weight (14 ozs), the front sight with the white stripe is very good (and you can change it out for something else), the Hogue grip is also very good, but the trigger pull is heavy, but I got over that. It's also minute-of-clay pigeon at 20-40 yards, actually it's more accurate than that, just haven't shot it on paper yet...

Initially I bought one for my wife, that is all she wanted in a defense pistol (not my first choice). But she practices with it and carries CCI Singers, and in the end getting hit with 8 Stingers could make for a very bad day. So after shooting hers I bought one. What I like is that I can shoot all types of .22 cal, from CCI Mini-mags to Remington Thunderbolts and even shorts--and if it doesn't go bang just pull the trigger until it does (which is why I opted for the Ruger over a Beretta 21A).

I should mention, that the the Ruger LCR-22 goes well with my LCR in .357mag (best out-of-box trigger pull ever), which I carry for a "BUG". After messing with the single-stack 9mm's for two years I went back to a 5-shot revolver, I guess that makes me old.. :)

I have several (dozen +) Ruger .22 handguns. They are all fun to shoot and very accurate.
Single sixes (both l.r. And mag.),SP 101 8 shot, GP 100 10 shot. Makes it hard to decide what one to take out on a date.

At gumsmiff skool we had a security six that was a training gun for the law enforcement class. It got a few squibs before an instructor saw the student looking at it in confusion. You could see the bulge in the barrel. Then it was taken out of service. The gunnies then got it for learnin on. The tool room manager would cock the hammer back, hang it on a steel door and pull the trigger doing a heavy duty burnish job on the sear. THAT was the smoothest wheel gun!

Don`t ya remember Snoopy on here few years back, we lost him in TX on vacation.
Was the best little dog and friend I ever had and still haven`t replaced him in fear of loosing another.

Not to high jack this thread but he was one of those that new you were sad and he was there, pain in the but to keep track of because everything bigger than him was out to get him.
And his orneriness is what got him lost, we were staying with some friends in a trailer park and we had to go to town so we left him in their trailer along with their dog and when we got back he apparently pushed the door open and wandered off or someone grabbed him.
We walked that park and the area day and night for a week and never found him, I`m still not over it, sorry.

I bought my wife an LCR in .22 Magnum. She just never got used to the .38 Special in a Smith snubbie.

Pitch, I remember good old Snoop. Having had to put down three of my dogs in the last four years has been hard on me, too.
