Brass-cased Shotgun Slug (slug is brass, too...!)

Sounds nasty. Not sure what they mean "also useful for hunting large game"....wouldn't leave much to eat.

That looks like the same concept as that handgun ammo we discussed.

Thanks for the link. They say the case/hull is brass and the slug/projectile is copper. They seem to be saying that it is more of a self defense round than anything and is not suitable for breaching; however, it can be used for hunting. Seems that it would leave a huge wound cavity - the size of a football they say. As AJMD429 says - it would destroy a lot of meat.

I have a Remington 870 pump shotgun with a fully rifled barrel with rifle sights that I shoot Remington Copper Solids from. The slug is copper encased in a plastic sabot while the hull is plastic. The slug's weight is 1oz and it is designed for large game.. It expands well with little meat wastage.

So, about 9 dollars a round. What was it the fellow said, "there's a sucker born every minute" Can't kill no deader than dead, and a good ole lead slugs been doing that for a century or so.

Yep, the rounds in the link do come to about 9-bucks apiece. That's very expensive and so are the Copper Solids I mentioned above. Luckily, I bought a case of the Copper Solids years ago when they were only about $1.25 apiece and I only use them occasionally so I'm good to go probably for my lifetime.

I have plenty of lead slugs too but here in CA leaded ammo is on the way out. There's even talk of banning leaded ammo in all of the nation's national forest, BLM land, and other federal agency lands.

Thanks for saving me typing. I'll go a step further by saying arrows and big rocks work pretty good too.---6

Mostly I liked the brass cases....

I've hunted whitetail with Winchester saboted 'pistol bullet' slugs with great results. Similar to 44 Mag rifle.
