Disposal safety questions
Hey Everyone –
I crumpled a few cases in my last reloading session – so I have:
-Some powder
-Some lead bullets (with lube in the grooves)
-Some primed, but slightly crumpled, cases
On the powder –
How do you “safely disposeâ€

If you know absolutely what the powder is and can use it, do so.
If the bullets aren't damaged, reload and shoot them, if they are damaged just chuck 'em in the pot.
Want to fire the primers, then do so.

I've been told that the primers can't be killed that way really. Supposedly, they are inactive for awhile and then dry out to be "love" again.
I haven't tested this, but I wish someone would (scientifically) and give us the definitive answer.

Agree with Hobie. If you loaded the rounds, just pull the bullets, unload the charge, weigh it, add whatever you might need (or take away), and reload the charge into a fresh case. Same advice on the bullets - if they are okay, reuse them. If they are mangled, they become pot fodder.
If you really want to dispose of the mangled brass, and don't want a hot primer in them, you can spray a little WD-40 in the empty case, pop the primer, and chuck the brass (or save it and sell it - brass is worth something - it sure as heck costs a lot anymore!). For the primer you removed, you can submerge them permanetely in a pound (though I think the chemicals are toxic), bury them, of it there aren't too many, just chuck them in the trash!
