*OT* Aussie petrol prices

Post by mad mucus »

****... I put AUS$20 worth of unleaded in my small car's tank this morning and got a piddly 12 litres.

As we're running nearly dollar for dollar with you guys/gals in the US, how does that compare with your gas prices? What is it, 4 litres to a US gallon?

Mucus

mm,

It's 3.78 litres to a gallon. And right now here in IL we are running around $4.15 US per gallon.

**** is right. Pretty soon it will cost us just to smell the stuff.

$4.07 reg. & $5.12 diesel Big Island Hawaii, Hilo side. US Gallon

Fuel cost + Federal excise taxes 18.4 cpg for gasoline and 24.4 cpg for diesel. +$.51 state tax reg., $.71.1 state tax diesel + 4% sales tax. county tax and 0.1 cpg environmental reponse tax. = in your tank price.

Edit: first time Hawaii has seen cheaper fuel prices compared to mainland, from what I remember. (19 yrs. in Hawaii)

I filled up my Ford Ranger in south-central Massachusetts. Well, regular unleaded was $3.99 a gallon. I topped off the tank for $56.00

I am seriously thinking about getting a bicycle for work commute. It is only a few miles away and that would save a lot of fuel.

My wife filled the Suburban yesterday. It was half full to start, and still cost us $75. Gas prices change hourly around here, but were around $3.82 in SC and $3.99 across the border in NC.

That being said, We can thank Congress for restricting supply - at least here.

That IDIOT Maxine Waters from CA threatening to nationalize the oil industry here won't help do anything but add risk to the business, and thus drive up prices further...

Here an overview about prices over here:

1 Euro = 1,56 US-Dollar

Current average liter prices
1 liter Diesel = 1,51 Euro
1 liter Super unleaded (95 ROZ, 85 MOZ) = 1,50 Euro

Average yearly tax for small modern engines about 100 Euro, for Diesel engines about 300 Euro. It is planned to change yearly tax from engine size and emmission class to carbon dioxide emmissions, but the rates are not clear jet and there are elections comming, causing some delay.

A VW Golf Variant (=Jetta Wagon in US?) with most efficient gasoline engine and gear (122 hp, 7 step double coupling direct shift gear), including average accessories costs (after discount) about 24.000 Euro.

All prices including value added tax, as paid out of the pocket.

I filled up Monday for $3.98, it's over $4.00 now.

The San Fernando Valley is a haven of decent gas prices in California.

I'm fortunate I live only 1.5 miles from work. I can bike it if I choose. I need to drive to shoot!

I may get a membership at the local indoor range because it's so close. I can go on the way to work. I like shooting outdoors but could survive this way.

Guys, don't dwell on the $4.00 gallon price, it's only temporary!

Soon it will be a fond memory.

It's $8.60 / gal here in the UK, 2/3 of which is tax. People still drive their cars often and fast. You get used to it. When we move back to the US next month, it will seem downright cheap.

It's amazing to see people in the US gripe about US oil companies. The US companies don't control even 1/3 the world's oil supply, but they get all the blame? Good grief.

The average price of petrol here is £1.15 per litre or $8.61 per Gallon.
It seems I spend more time driving to the gas station than anywhere else

$4.08 US per US gallon here....getting pretty darn close to parity in the majority of the world. Oops...except for Europe and England, they kinda feel it is necessary to inhibit movement by maintaining higher energy costs. Even with our relatively low price of gasoline here in the US, the cost will hinder usage of my necessary equipment. Heck, it takes me 8 gallons of gasoline just to cut my grass every week, not to mention 22 gallons for my boat, a tank or two in my ATV's, my motorcycle, two cars, one mini van, and my pick up truck. That, coupled with driving approximately 600 miles for work weekly and my every other week runs up to my cabin (550 mile round trip)....looks like I'll have to cut back on something. Guess I'll tell my wife to only go to the store when she can hitch a ride with the gal down the road. That'll save a gallon or two a week!

I paid 3.76 a gallon for regular yesterday at Costco in Winchester, Va.

What we need is a good world wide recession. Then Asia won't be sucking up all the oil and other materials.

Suck it up folks, it's not going to get any better, prices are only going up.

Diesel is $4.89 per gal at the local station. Cost me near $64.00 to fill the tank on my VW Jetta TDI (diesel engine). The only "good" news is that the little bugger gets 50+ mpg if you keep your foot out of it.
