Winchester 92 Mag tube.

Post by Koyuga »

I purchased a basket case advertised as a winchester 53 as I had heard they we're valuable. It came with a round 32/20 barrel and 20 inch octagonal 25/20

It ended up being a 92 with a short mag tube in forend.

I had the smith reline and fit the octagonal in 32/20 as I wanted that look.

The forend was rotted and didn't fit the octagonal hangar. (Too short)

Now I'm about to purchase a new forend and would really like a full length mag tube for that classic look.

Im only doing this for my own pleasure, as we usually do. I know it would probably be cheaper just buy what I wanted.

So.

Is this easy to do?
It seems all I need is a new tube. Mag hanger and machine to fit.

Spring. End plug.

Although I'm unsure at this stage on how the end plug is secured.
Is it attached via a screw that is threaded into the lower barrel.

Thanks for any info.

Cheers.

Give it a few days and someone here will likely chime in who knows the answers.

Numrich sells tubular mags . I just now got 4 of them for 4 Marlins I am building. I did get one a while back for a Win 92. If the question is how much trouble is fitting a new tube mag , my answer is that there cant be much to as I find it very easy and I am not a gunsmith - just a machinist that likes guns.- plus I can ask members here if I get in a bind :D
