Music
Was listening to the Shadows doing Telstar, after that my wife started clicking on different musicians, played a couple by this fellow.
I went to his channel and played the first one that came up in the videos section. That song always tears me up, but today it put me in tears. I soaked a bunch of tissues before I stopped bawling ... "The old rugged cross".
Check him out, he's worth listening to: https://www.youtube.com/user/geoffers47/videos

Thanks Joe..... for a while I often surf U-tube looking at a lot of the Old Stuff. One Artist I am Blown Away with is Tom Jones......now take a second..... He is 80 years old and not long ago He was a judge on a show from the U.K. They asked Him to sing and He slayed it at 80!! unbelievable. then there is a clip from 1969 from His show...........Crosby , Stills, Nash & Young ..... "Long time Gone" . I was about 16 but some how missed it... .

But, the version I cherish is fifty country folks in the Old Cambridge (Ohio) Baptist Church. The piano was woefully out of tune, and that place is really the only church I've held near and dear to my heart.
They don't make churches, pianos, and people like that anymore.....

Re: Music
There are just some people who can sing with the feeling and love for the song to really carry the message. It is not anways the sweetest voice to carry the right feeling. A bit of a drift, but John Wayne reading "America, why I love her" to music is another one that gets me. Songs like The Old Rugged Cross are ones which are best when the singer truly means what the message is in the words. Sincerity makes certain songs turn into something special.
Sincerity may sometimes make for bad poetry, but it can truly turn a hymn into a song of praise. Why me? By Kris Kristofferson is another. I have heard others sing it. Some with better voices. Funny, but the feeling he put into that song sure got the message across.
Johnny Cash's version of Sunday Morning Coming Down made you feel a man hitting rock bottom. Ferlin Husky's Wings of a Dove gave you hope. Again, it was the sincerity.

One good song can overcome a multitude of screwed-up sermons.
