Marlins one step closer
There is a new clip that was put up on Marlin's Facebook page showing an employee buffing a 336 (?) receiver while Ruger's CEO watches. I am getting a warm feeling.

I hope Marlin bring back the CL in .32/20.
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.
Re: Marlins one step closer
The 1894 CL period ! Wouldn't that be something !?
Instead of "REM", maybe now we'll see "RJM"

There you go again, confusing us with the truth and facts!
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

As far as I am concerned, it aint a done deal until they are on the dealer's shelves....
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

Marlin is going to make some improvements in design and probably materials. They just cannot help but do that. I'm looking forward to seeing exactly what they do and I will most certainly contribute to their first year sales.

Since Frank Kenna bought Marlin out of bankruptcy court in 1923, he and his heirs did a lot to bring Marlin back from the horrible state Rockwell, and the Marlin Firearms Corp. had done to ruin the company. I consider the Kenna years as good as any years under John Marlin's initial reign. I certainly love the pre WWI Marlins better than any others, but the quality of Marlins under the Kenna family were very much very high up until just before Remington bought the company.
Hopefully Ruger will bring back Marlin to the greatness of the time of the JM stamped guns.

I too, am hopeful Ruger will restore Marlin back to a quality manufacturer of very good lever guns. I hope, in time, they achieve the manufacture of exclusive (limited run) rifles that we saw back in the 90's and early 2000's.marlinman93 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 9:54 amSince Frank Kenna bought Marlin out of bankruptcy court in 1923, he and his heirs did a lot to bring Marlin back from the horrible state Rockwell, and the Marlin Firearms Corp. had done to ruin the company. I also hope the technical service dept gets back up to par where they were at prior to Remington.
Yep - time will tell....

This has been asked many times over on Marlin Owners and I kinda like Marlin by Ruger.

Re: Marlins one step closer
I have a lot of confidence that Ruger will get it right. Probably investment cast vs. forged receivers, but that makes no difference to me. I just hope we get a 336 with a 24-inch barrel.
Re: Marlins one step closer
This is going to sound crazy, but I would like to see a copy of the Marlin 1881 rifle.
I always thought that rifle had the coolest profile.
I think the originals bring pretty big money these days.

My hope is that Ruger builds Quality Marlins that do the name proud. I can't wait to see them. .

Re: Marlins one step closer
The 1881 has always been a favorite of the old Marlin repeaters. But it's not a very strong action as compared to even the 336 based .45-70 Model 1895's. So I doubt Ruger will bring it back.
Now what I'd die for is for Ruger to bring back the Marlin Ballard rifles! Even in limited old BPCR calibers, and both pistol grip and straight grip frames. I'd immediately put in an order for some parts, and likely order a rifle once the reviews came out, and were positive!

Re: Marlins one step closer
I lathered for the Davidson's Marlin 4570 Cowboy with a 24" octagon barrel, back when, but couldn't make it happen.
I did get a pretty good buy on a 45/70 Guide Gun, of which I didn't care for the short, ported barrel. I prearranged with Marlin for them to change out the 18 1/2" barrel with a 22" barrel. I guess you could say I have a semi custom factory straight stocked 45/70 with a 22" barrel.
