OT - Politics - Campaign For Liberty

Post by DavidF »

I just read Ron Paul's opening speech at the "Rally for the Republic". It turns my stomach to think that someone with such principled understanding of and commitment to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights who was available and willing to lead the country in the right direction was instead shunned and ridiculed. I wish I could have been at the rally. Watch a couple of the speeches on Youtube compared to the dry meaningless drone of what is coming from the RNC and DNC, and you cant help but get fired up for true, meaningful, and right change.

Sarah Palin is a great choice for McCain and I found myself getting more receptive to the idea of voting for them, but a vote for McCain/Palin is a just a vote to temporarily slow the countries march away from Liberty and personal freedom. What is needed is a hard 180 and a powerful push back towards the principles that the US was founded on. Maybe Palin/Paul in 2012

Check it out.

Agreed. We have to find a way to turn this system around. Both major parties are in cahoots to make sure only THEY stay in power and keep all third parties way out on the fringe. The media is in the same mindset. Look at how they're treated and marginalized during the primaries when debates are organized. They're shunned and/or ignored.

Plus a guy like Ron Paul represents beliefs that are, unfortunately, not in sync with a large majority of the American public anymore. Too many people want everything handed to them on someone else's silver platter starting at birth and ending with the grave. The American public is rapidly becoming more like the rest of the socialistic world, I'm afraid. Too many are completely dependent on some sort of government handout, whether its a welfare check, food stamps, or bloated corporate subsidies. It's a no-win situation regardless of what side of the aisle is in power.

I hate to say it but I think only something short of a real revolution would bring a change in direction.
Some people just need a sympathetic pat on the head.....with a hammer. Repeatedly.

I'm watching Palin's acceptance speech right now, and she is kicking butt and taking names! I think we have the real thing here. Hopefully it is the start of the next generation of the same. With Jindal being another, I think it just may be!!! :D

Liberty just doesn't happen.

The Republicans had their chance at keeping a million plus votes (Paul) and adding many more from all parties, that is, Liberty minded folks. The base went with the potential winner, not substance.

This works out great for what the GOP has become, why take a chance with Liberty when all it does is wrench power from the government? Their are plenty votes for the GOP and their new centerist base and center leaning platform, those voters can have the "best" of both worlds, "safety" from terrorists and social "safety nets".

One little problem, continued loss of Liberty.

On the Campaign for Liberty/Rally, it was quite an event, the crowd cheered Austrian economics, booed the Federal Reserve, and raised the roof when the true meaning of RKBA was explained, -see at the Rally for the Republic, those things were mentioned.
