Re: 45 Colt Jacketed vs Lead? and other questions?

I have taken deer, boar & turkey w/ my 45 Colt lever action using a 255 SWC & a moderate load of AA#5...probably no more than 1000 FPS. Sir the most anemic 250 and 255 FPLRN flat point lead round nose bullets I buy when I chrono them are running 1200fps and they have no recoil plus they sho...

Re: 45 Colt Jacketed vs Lead? and other questions?

Thanks for the welcome, I have been a "lurker" here since I got this little rifle from my cousin. I had "people" tell me that it is a beautiful rifle but not to consider it a hunting rifle but just a plinker. Earlier this year I bought an AR (a fun toy but not legal for larger ga...

Re: 1911 Back in the Military

Yep all you guys can say what you want about the 1911, I carried one in the Corps and it was not Maintenance intensive, if anything it was indestructible. And your comments about the high cap mags. You dont need a hi-cap mag if the first shot takes care of the problem. You hit someone with a 45 and ...

45 Colt Jacketed vs Lead? and other questions?

Howdy; Ok I have scanned through a lot of this forum mostly learning about 45 colt loads. I shoot a Rossi 92 rifle (24" barrel) the one with the brass frame and SS octagonal barrel. All of my reloading so far has been with Jacketed Bullets but because of all the other guns I own thats what I am...

Re: Rossi 92 and 225gr Hornady FTX leverevolution bullets.

thank you so much..I will give it a go. I am still learning so much about reloading since the bulk of it has been pretty standard 8x57 and .223. There is a lot of information available for the calibers and having a chronograph has made loading for them pretty easy. Loading for the Colt has been more...

Re: Rossi 92 and 225gr Hornady FTX leverevolution bullets.

Ok I ordered some H110, using the 225ftx bullet kinda where should I start with the powder. Information is pretty scarce and I really do want a little more velocity with that bullet. Thanks Again...Oh Steve I had to go out of town to my granddaughters 6th birthday party and I am still looking for a ...

Re: Rossi 92 and 225gr Hornady FTX leverevolution bullets.

Thank you gentlemen very much. I will look into getting some H110 next time I am in Wichita. I always do a visual check on every round I load, I know its time consuming but it makes me feel better. After reading earlmck's post. I am going to look into getting some of the heavier FTX bullets. I guess...

Re: Rossi 92 and 225gr Hornady FTX leverevolution bullets.

I have started upgrading the sights from Steve's Gunz, I really wish I could afford a tang sight but getting a nice rear sight that he recommended. Already replaced the front with one that has a brass bead on it and ordered the plug to get rid of the top mounted safety His Stuff is so good!!! :D :D :D

Re: Rossi 92 and 225gr Hornady FTX leverevolution bullets.

I was reading another thread on here and the gentleman called his rifle a "Golden Boy". Mine is exactly like his. It looks like underneath the brass receiver there is a lot of Stainless Steel parts plus the stainless barrel so are there any strength issues with these rifles?

Rossi 92 and 225gr Hornady FTX leverevolution bullets.

Hello, I have a Rossi 92, brass receiver stainless action and octagonal rifle (24" barrel). It is in 45colt. I had been wanting to try the LeveRevolution ammo but it is so expensive and when I got a box of 100 of the bullets for reloading on my birthday I was ecstatic. First thing I found out i...
