Re: Single Six for all-around use?
I do want a 1911. Always have wanted one, but the .45s I've shot weren't confidence-inspiring. I could hit a guy close-up but I would have to practice a lot to do much better at any distance. At $20 a box, that limits practice. The CINCPAD has declared she doesn't want anyone in the household using ...

Re: Single Six for all-around use?
My primary handun is a 6" GP 100. We have a .38, a .22 Henry, a 12 ga., a 30-30, and a Mosin-Nagant. I think the Single Six would be much easier to carry and handle than the big, heavy GP. I think I have the other 1% handled. In a pinch, what kind of damage would the .22 Mag do to a human being...

I want to replace a Single Six that I had to sell a few years back. I have a few acres in southern AZ and have the usual critters that come around - rattlesnake, coyote, skunk... We've had problems with skunks, but have not seen anything that size running around. Lots of huge jackrabbits, coyotes are common, and sometimes javelinas. No prairie dogs or ground hogs.

I'm intrigued by the 22 WMR, and have read so much different stuff that I'm not sure what to think. It seems a bit expensive just for target practice and plinking, and I can't begin to tell you how many people say it's not enough to take a coyote reliably. Overkill on a rabbit, not enough for a coyo...

You guys love your SAAs and clones. I've been thinking of a 1911 or a P345 because I like .45 ACP. The 345 is supposed to be a good gun, and it's small enough to count as a concealable weapon. A 1911 is nice and narrow, and has enough weight to dampen the recoil of the .45. Concealment is not paramount, but might be nice sometimes. I ...

Would a 4 5/8 in. Blackhawk be too big to be reasonably concealed under a loose, untucked shirt? I want a bigbore, but not a shrunken-down version. I know some autos are slim enough that they're not obvious underneath a shirt, but is a full-size revolver just too big for that?

At normal wadcutter velocities, yer likely gonna be fine. ENERGY (velocity x velocity x weight) is for punching holes in things. MOMENTUM, (velocity x weight) is for knocking em over. a low VELOCITY lead bullet ain't likely to hurt ANY steel target that is free to swing when hit. It's not the swing...

I want to shoot .38 wadcutters at my bullet trap. It's designed for rimfire. I've shot .22 Magnums at it, and it holds up fine. Well, he said 800x is too slow for a HBWC. Lee has been testing loads for decades, and I don't think he would list a problematic load. I don't have the book with me, but I don't think 800x is that far down the list from bullseye.
