I got every Shooting Times I could get my hands on, in the early 80's, to read Skelton and Jordan's articles. I also had Guns and Ammo's Guns of the Gunfighters which had articles by Keith, Gary James and Phil Spangenberger along with others. I was not flush with cash so the library got hit pretty o...

A great woman and a great rifle. Somewhere, you'll find that magic load. If a heavy cast 35 penetrates and kills all out of proportion, that 40 should do the trick on just about anything that walks.

Thank you fellas! Ok, Unique it will be to start and will look for Trailboss if needed. Thats serious penetration at low velocity OI. Shooting this little Bond is gonna be "interesting." Hopefully I can come up with a pleasant shooting load so she can enjoy practice with it.

Re: Moderate 357 Mag. loads for 185 gr. Cast Bullets

That helps Tycer. I may want above Cat Sneeze....probably even a shade above the Cowboy Burrito Gas load. My theory is, even at reduced velocity, that heavy 180+ grain flat nose is gonna penetrate. So, maybe my Unique would be a good place to start?

Moderate 357 Mag. loads for 185 gr. Cast Bullets

So, I am pretty sold on the 357 Mag. With cast 180 grain loads. Before I sent my Security Six off to Brian Cosby for some work I was shooting the Buffalo Bore version of that load, which is pretty stout out of a 2.75 inch revolver. Since Tycer was kind enough to send me some 185's here a while back(...

I was just at the Cabela's near Austin, TX and there was about 0 used levers on the racks there. The last time I was at the one near Hamburg, PA there were lots. Have to get back there and check out the scene. Local pusher has some used on the racks but prices are high there from what I remember.

Maybe the cause was less of the 95's drawbacks and more of how good the Model 94 was/is. The 30/30 was a sizzling cartridge for the time as well.

Re: Knife Build: attaching wood handles

On this solingen blade, the tang was ultra hard Chuck. A drill press would barely touch it, and that was just trying to take holes from 1/10 to 1/8. I gave it to a machine shop thinking they could help but no go. I wonder if this is normal? Once I got the correct pin stock size(3/32) I epoxied one s...

Thank you for the kind words! They bill this blade as a "Cumberland Knife" or something like it. Maybe not a common knife style historically, but I'm betting it's close in shape to some knives made in the 17-1800's South. The horn is my first scrimshaw attempt. I figured my boys would rath...

As for de-cocking a SA revolver, I just put my other thumb in between the hammer and frame as insurance when letting the hammer down. I just loop it firmly like a hook right at the bottom of hammer, in between it and the frame. A DA revolver can be de-cocked in the same manner. It's automatic after ...
