Re: American-made Redfield scopes are back!

My dad would have been overjoyed, if he was still with us. He dearly loved the old American made Redfield optics. I've always been a Leupold guy, but I'm glad to see Redfield being made back here.

Re: Tru Oil stock refinish before and after pics

Nice looking 336. I used TruOil many years ago on an old stock, and the results were outstanding. Not sure why I never thought about using it again.

Re: OT 22 hornet and coyotes

I've killed a pile of them with an H&R Handi Rifle in 22 Hornet. I use WW 45 gr JHP, and it kills them very dead. Dad used to pack my H&R Topper .22H in a saddle scabbard on the tractor. It had a Redfield 2x7 on it and he killed every one he ever shot at, which was several. Used the same lo...

I have when I used the 45 gr SP, but not very often with the HP. I generally pop them in the shoulder, when they are out past about 75 yards.

Re: My growing frustration with finding a front sight hood.

Thank you Chris. I sent you a PM. CoSteve: I've already spent $11 with Numerich for a "mystery sight hood", so I'd prefer to buy from someone who knows what a W94 hood really is. Based on that pic, the correct hood could be #2 or #3. Impossible for me to tell without looking at them from t...

Re: My growing frustration with finding a front sight hood.

Thanks Bob. This restoration has been a slow, and laborous process. I've enjoyed every minute of it, but I get a little cranky when I need something so simple, and can't find it.

My growing frustration with finding a front sight hood.

A week or so ago I posted my progress and finally a post on the finished 1971 Winchester 94 that I restored back to near factory new condition. Well the final step was waiting on my front sight hood that I ordered from Numerich (gun parts corp.). What they sent me was NOT a Winchester 94 front sight...

doorgunner, That looks pretty darn good. Keep us posted on how the Aluma Hyde II holds up. I've heard various reports on it over on The Ruger Forum. Winchester 94 Post 64 restoration complete.

Well as described in a previous thread, I was restoring a badly used/abused 1971 model 94. This old carbine obviously has the "mystery metal" Winchester receiver, so bluing was pretty much out of the question. The remainder of the metal, minus the loading gate and finger lever, I reblued w...

Yeah well, call me a fool if ya like, but to me the fool is the skinflint that pines away for something, but won't pay for it unless it's a steal, and dies NOT having enjoyed whatever it was he wanted. Re: Looking for a front sight hood (Disregard-Found one).

Thanks for the rundown on the carbine. I always wonder what kind of life these old Winchesters have lived. Yea me too. This one has seen many hard days in the saddle scabbard. I did a ton of work on it today. I reblued the steel buttplate, stripped, steamed, sanded, and stained the buttstock and fo...

Re: Looking for a front sight hood.

Welcome to the forum, what's the history on your rifle? Nothing really significant. Bought it a while back from a friend, who inherited it from a relative. The relative had a ranch in New Mexico (and leased a bunch of BLM land), and the rifle spent most of it's life riding around in a saddle scabba...

Looking for a front sight hood (Disregard-Found one).

I just acquired a 1971 Winchester 94 that has seen many years of hard use riding in a saddle scabbard. I am going to rehab it back to life. Does anybody have a front sight hood that they would sell me? I'd be grateful to anyone who is able to help.
