I think I will go with the filling method. Maybe brass. I just wish the dovetails on the Puma's were a standard size. It is butt ugly with an empty dovetail and screw holes. Not to mention it looks like they hammered the original sight in with a maul.

Filling Dovetail.

I have a 16inch Puma stainless 44mag. It came drilled and tapped for their scout mount. I want to have the holes and the dovetail filled. Can this be done without ruining the barrel?

I like the puma's but I love my SS. I was at the range sighting in my XS sight on my Marlin on Friday. It amazes me how accurate the Marlin is, and you can load it from mild to wild.

I wouldn't count on LSI for anything. Hopefully their new "Italian" made Puma's will be better. Doesn't really matter to me. I still won't buy one, just the principle of the whole fiasco.

AJ, I don't remember what thread it was, maybe my own on "no more 454 Pumas" but someone indicated he had been waiting for 8 months to get his Puma back from Legacy and they finally confessed that they did not have any spare parts! So they are providing him with a new Chiapa Puma instead....

Scary how accurate they are. With scope mine will shoot an honest inch 3 shot group at 100yrds. Only problem is that it beats the snot out of me. I am experimenting with different powders to reduce felt recoil.

Thanks, I have just did a thorough cleaning, and I can say with some certainty this gun was never shot. I will be putting in an order for bullets brass and dies shortly. I am not big on scoping Levers but I have a nice Leupold VX-II 1x4 that would fit nicely on this rifle.

The only Henry I have shot was a 22. It is a well made rifle. I picked up a 357 in a gun store a while back. It made my 1895ss seem lite. And I would be scared to scratch that brass.

Well my Rossi arrived at the LSI repair center yesterday. I don't know what the turn around time will be. I just hope they fix the barrel. I sent a slug of the barrel that measured .4335".
