The 1895 CB is a good gun - I made mine better by slicking up the action, adding a Pachmayr recoil pad, and added a big loop lever to it. Now I'm good for everything from mild to heavy loads.

Winchester 1894 in 25-35 WCF question.

I have been looking for the last while for a nice old Winchester 1894 in 25-35 WCF( the ones made from 1895 to 1930 or so). I can get either a rifle or a carbine. How much of a difference is there between the rifle and the carbine in accuracy? I'd be shooting 117 grain CIL/Dominion ammo at ranges up...

I thought I read that it was April 1919 I'm in agreement with this. It was mentioned by one of the more knowledgeable collectors on the Winchester Arms Collectors website that this happened around 1919 and was gradually phased in. That's why one will see 1894 stamped guns into the 1920s. My 1920 38...

AGI Armorer's Courses on Win 1894; Win 1886/1892/1871

I'm thinking about purchasing both of these courses on DVDs. If there are levergunners that have either or both of these courses, what is your opinion of their quality and usefulness to levergunners, please. I have 1894s and 1886s the courses would be applicable to.

Thank you!

If possible, could the moderators sticky this topic as it has big implications for levergunner reloaders, please? Thanks!

Barnes TSX 30-30 bullets - opinions?

Recently found out one of the local gunshops up here got some Barnes TSX 30-30 flat nosed bullets in. I'm thinking about trying these out in my 30-30s and would like to hear other levergunners experiences with these bullets. Are they rather touchy with respect to accuracy? I like that load of 28.0 gr IMR4198 - very good SD.

I was reading Sam Fadala's tome on the Winchester 30-30 where he goes into some detail on handloads which used 180 and 190 grain bullets for increased penetration - good for moose and elk. I note that Hornady has a 180 grain round nose bullet (#3075). I also see that there is a 220 grain round nose ...
