Re: Cast boolits, .405 Winchester, Model 1895?
Having tried to tame it down some, I would recommend some sort of rear sight that gives more elevation than the standard buckhorn. I run a 320 grain and the buckhorn runs out of elevation pretty fast as in trying to even stay on the bull at 100 yds if trying for the mid teens on velocity. I like the...

Noticed the page in your book on the 44-40. Friend of mine loaded up a bunch of those hot 2400 loads and separated the head from every single case he fired. I have a lot of those books and they are a great read by the fireplace on a cold winter night but I think I will just call the loads "hist...

The Casper shows got where they sucked so bad that I haven't been to one in over 20 years. Last one I liked was in Billings about 10 years ago. Of course, I am not in the EBR crowd so that limits things. Glad to see they are picking up some.

Of course they will probably never be shot but I'm curious as to the barrel and cylinder throat dimensions. I haven't measured that many but every 44 spec Colt I did measure had a ~.427 barrel with riduculously sloppy throats. One I really wanted had a .426 barrel and the thraots went from .430 to ....

Got one but due to work and other stuff, haven't worked with it yet. Like every Miroku I have (about every one of them) it is a class piece of equipment. The action is smooth, the trigger is near perfect, the finish is excellent, the wood fit is better than any other Miroku I own and the wood finish...

Without a doubt, the factory method is best but, it requires the thinnest and most detailed dovetail I have ever seen.
On my Browning, I screwed a stud in a tapped hole in the nose cap with just enough extending on the inside that I peened it over. A stick of TNT couldn't get that stud out.

That will take the ethanol out. It will also take out the octane boosting affect leaving an octane rating well below a usuable level for any engine that is built today. The octane of the base gasoline before the ethanol is added to boost it is a pathetically low number suitable to only model Ts or c...

I agree with above. Very unsafe. At the very least you will set off every smoke alarm in the house. The standard 92-6-2 alloy is hard from primarily the antimony content, not from harde...

"405" bullets are not .405". They run in diameter from .411 to .413" with most being .412". 40-82s run from .405" to .408" with a few outside those figures. If your barrel was relined with the correct size for 40-82 it will be closer to .406" groove diameter (...
