Re: Rifle decisions. Human and predators

I would go with the 30-30 with a peep no doubt. Very useful rifle. The 44 trapper has sex appeal but isn't nearly as versatile.

Re: Wow, I was Able to Git Some!

We have had 22 on the shelf again for a while. The price is 8-10 cents a round but it's there. I watch 22 on the internet and it is available again. The price seems to be going down about 1 cent a week. I bought some last week at 6 cents a round. It seems like the mania is over.

The Christmas Rifle

Another year has passed with all its joys and heartaches. It is Christmas again and the time to remember the birth of our Savior. Halleluiah the Lord has come! The 7-08 is a great round. If I was starting over I would get one instead of the 243 I have. You really can't go wrong with a 7-08.

Deer season update

So far this year I have bagged 5 does. I hate to admit it but I shot the first two with the 243, but as always I could have made both those shots with a lever. The next three fell to the Marlin 30-30 in my avatar. I need 6 and have a lot of season left so I am going to switch to my Winchester 94 Tra...

Witnessed a levergun miracle today

For many years I have used the Marlin 336 in my avatar. I have killed a lot of deer and hogs with that gun. I never shot at anything past 150 yards with it and never fired it at a paper target past 150 yards. I wanted to see where it was at 200 yards so today I took it out. I put my target at 200 hu...

Winchestser 1895 in 35 Winchester

One of my buddies at work came back from lunch with a Winchester 1895 in 35 Winchester. Neither of us is familiar with that round, but we researched it and discovered it is probably too powerful for our area. That doesn't mean we don't want to have fun with this gun though. It is refinished but they...
