MrMurphy has it right, if you want a red dot sight, Aimpoint is the best there is!!! (Bring your banker!) However, for those of us that can't afford the $400 plus price tag, this one is a good performer. The guys at Warrior Talk Fopum seem to like it! http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-1x25-trophy...

Amen to that, Tycer!!! I use a 1-4 Leupold with heavy crosshairs (it's a shotgun scope really) and leave it set at 2X. I've made shots out to about 125-150 yds using my inline muzzleloader (you really can't shoot much further than that around here, ANY shot over 50 yds here is a LONG shot, and rare)...

Kirk,
I would have to agree with you, 2400 and cast boolits seem to be custom made for each other! My use has been limited so far to 357 and 44 mag calibers but I will soon start shooting cast in my 30-30, I'm looking forward to it!

A co-worker found this while re-modeling her house last summer. It is die-cast and appears to be nickel plated. It's fully functional, I haven't tried to fire it but it seems to be in 100% working order. As you can see it it a "break-top" design, the barrel is devoid of any rifling and is ...

If you started out with the 30-30 and then decided you want something bigger, you could have that rifle rebarreled to 38-55. Mmmmmm, nope, can't do that. The rules prohibit re-barreling, but they do allow re-boring. The 30-30 will work, it's just not 100% on the rams. If you shoot a 30-30 it's goin...

Darry, The 30-30 and the 357 mag are adequate for the long range events but you will lose rams with these rounds unless they are high-center hits, and even then it can be "iffy". In most situations, they will work OK, but you really want more "juice" for the rams (those buggers w...

Tycer is spot-on here! Provided that the rifle has a good bore to begin with, yes, you can thoroughly clean the piece and "re-season" it. This was standard procedure for our target rifles when I was shooting in smallbore competition - at the end of the season, or if accuracy had fallen of,...

Mitch, The type of rifling isn't as critical as the hardness and size of the bullet you push through it. Slug the bore, find a bullet 1-2 thousandths of an inch larger and go shoot them. My Marlin 1894 is one of the infamous "Fat-bore" rifles - bore measures .432". I found a couple of...
