Why I hate shotgun slugs..........
Leading, leading, leading.......Oh, and did I mention leading? This area has been a "Shotgun Only" area since forever, advanced to allowing muzzleloaders around '78, then handguns around '80 and finally allowing rifles last year. Finally! However, some of the Turkey Shoots I attend only al...

Re: Shoulder Holster Wanted
I'll give Simply Rugged a try, maybe they can make me up what I'm looking for. I know it isn't much weight but I'm trying to get rid of the need to carry anything on a belt. A belt rubs on my hip bones and causes me pain if there is any weight on it at all, so, the need for a shoulder holster. The D...

Re: Shoulder Holster Wanted
I've tracked down all the makers suggested but they don't offer one to fit this gun. Remember, it's a 22/22 Mag, it's the size of a Ruger Single-Six w/ 6 1/2" barrel, no one seems to make a rig for the small frame guns. My aim is to carry it in the shoulder rig with the magnum cylinder loaded, ...

mcb, there's a lot of good advice posted above, and if you stick to 296, H-110 or 2400 for full power loads you won't go wrong. But, remember that PRESSURE is PRESSURE, BE SAFE! Just because you're shooting a rifle doesn't mean you can ignore the max loads listed in the literature, and as Doc mentio...

I have not slugged the barrel, I have been using cast bullets that mike .358" diameter. The 180's shoot awesome groups whether full power or reduced. Currently, my standard load is 11 gr of 2400 with a 180 gr truncated cone profile from Penn Bullets or Lasercast. I'm going to order a mold (158)...

In another thread I had inquired about mold selection for my 1894c (357 Mag), and there were several comments about 158 gr cast bullets giving unsatisfactory groups in other peoples Marlins. Well, mine won't shoot anything you could call a group with them either! Maybe it's just that I haven't hit o...

I'm using the Leupold VX-1 1x4 scope on my leverguns. No front bell so no issue there, you can mount it as low as the hammer spur will let you. In your case, try to shim it up a few thousandths to clear the rail. If not, you'll need the next size higher rings........

JerryB, 2400 & 4227 will work great in your carbine with the 180 gr bullet, the only thing you give up is a little bit of velocity. Li'l Gun is a tad slower than those two, and because of that, it really shines in the longer barrel!

86er, I agree 100% with your choice of bullet! I've used the 180 gr Hornady for several years now in my Marlin '94 357 mag with excellent results! It seems to me that it is an often-overlooked option for the 357, but that's OK, that means there's more for me!!
