Re: OT-Gifting a pistol to my dad. Legal or not????
As I understand it federal law requires an NICS check etc whenever a handgun's ownership is transfered. The federal paperwork asks if the gun is for you or is intended as a gift, if its a gift the person its being bought for is suposed to fill out the paperwork. I'm not a lawyer but it seems pretty ...

Re: Update on Marlin 1894 Jam
Glad it got worked out for you. I gotta add though that you shouldn't need "vigor" if its operating right. If everything is fine slow or fast shouldn't matter, matter of fact slamming things vigorously in a poorly tuned gun probably helps create the wear that causes the jam more than anyth...

Re: OT-Gifting a pistol to my dad. Legal or not????
What happens if he has to use it and it is traced back to me? You'll likely get in trouble if you or he says you "gave" it to him, how much depends on the attitude of the authorities. But if you let him "borrow" it I'd think its fine. I let my Dad borrow a gun about 15 years ago...

As for the Factory crimp die; I don't use it. I have one for my .44 mag. but I believe it sizes the bullet down too much while crimping. I need a .432" bullet for my Puma, and the Lee die sizes as it crimps, giving me an undersized bullet (about .430"). +1. I dont use any of their pistol ...

Maybe I should ask this question; if you had a choice between a Marlin '89, Marlin '94, or a Winchester Model 92...all in the same caliber, all at the same price, and all in 99% shape; Which one would you take? Original? A 92 without question. I might sell it & buy 2 89's but a 92 is definately...

Re: OT? - pulling bullets
Are the ones you found to be undersized the ones you tried to resize while loaded? That will definately size them down since the sizer die is squeezing the neck with a bullet in it.
Pulling them from the brass wont reduce their diameter, if that happened bullets would always be undersized.

If everythings right even flush wadcutters shouldn't jam you up, might not like going into the chamber but in a Marlin empty cases should feed from the tube. If they wont then theres a timing issue. Biggest problems in a Marlin would be that they headspace on the rim where the 45 headspaces on the end of the case & Marlins cartridge stop mechanics work on the difference between rim dia. & body dia. Might be more feasible in a Winchester feeding wise.
