Re: marlin 44-40 cowboy
The 44-40 is a super round . I have been reloading the same 500 rounds for over 14 yrs without 1 case failure and the brass has been reloaded over 75 times . My SASS/CAS loads are the same as 44 spl 6.0 Unique / 725 fps and my hunting loads meet or exceed the 44 mag . The brass is a little tricky t...

I use a double boiler to melt the lube , it don't change the viscosity of lube like the direct heat . I pour melt lube directly into sizer and I get no air pocket . I need to try making your lube stick , super great idea .

All targets below shot with Fed 150 . Loads are under 40,000 psi .
These are on the back of loading data card , not the best target shot with gun .

If your loads are near max , back off min 10% . If you are shooting cast the hot primer can cause it to lead up faster . You shouldn't have any problems , I shoot both primers in my 32-20 , SP with Unique and SR with IMR4227 .

Anything under 4X I think the iron sight are faster and better then a scope . If you have a front sight on gun it will be in the field of view of a 2.5X scope or lower power if it a wide field of view scope .

Sound like the action is not 100% closed . And yes I know a 94 will not fire till the lever closed , but it will dent the primer and not fire if the bolt is not closed 100% because of ammo too long in head space or bullet hitting rifling . And the other thing is pull the firing pin out and see if i...

In reduced cast bullet loads I use Unique . 2400 powder is a great powder , but I have seen it ring chamber in reduced loads in straight wall cases . The Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook has a lot more loads using 2400 in 100 other chamberings http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z195/dukeboy51/web/a0850c5...

What you are looking at is the original configuration of the 45 Colt cartridge in 1873. No, it is not a balloon head case, it is a copper cased, Benet primed cartridge. And yes, that tiny rim is the reason nobody bothered to chamber rifles for the cartridge, there is nothing for an extractor claw to...
