We've been playing quite a bit with a couple of Lyman 21's the last couple of years. They don't call 'em Climbin' Lymans for nothing!! We haven't had much luck with getting them to print very good groups so far. Not sure if we are having rifle or sight issues as of yet, but are suspecting the sights...

IIRC the New Frontier had adjustable sights, while the Peacemaker had fixed. That being said, I have the Peacemaker model 22LR and can't say enough good about it. It is very accurate when you have found the right ammo (mine likes CCI Stingers). The action is very nice, the only point I didn't like w...

Big Bore Rangers??
While looking at the 307 thread, I noticed that it was stated that Winchester never made the BB in Ranger configuration...I know I've never seen one, so assumed it was probably correct. But then a few minutes ago I ran across this. http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=89843781 So what's up...

Like Nath said, the rim might give problems. If you found a model 54 Winchester Chambered for 30-30, that would be the easiest conversion. You could also perhaps look at converting a P14 Enfield, or a SMLE but that might get pretty expensive. I get my hackles up every time someone talks about bolt g...

I have an 1894 made in 1915. Full Oct. bbl, full mag, Crescent BP. I tried so many loads with this rifle trying to make it shoot that I finally gave up. Bore was very good to excellent, rifle condition was very good. I took it to a couple of shows determined to trade into something else, but couldn'...

I would say one of two things are happening here. 1) You are contaminating your primers when you are priming your cases. 2) Your Hornady One-shot is contaminating your loads. When I first started reloading (about 25 yrs ago) I had a series of misfires with some 25-20's. I was using CCI primers, and ...

A Very Long Engagement starring Audrey Tautou is a love story based upon finding her missing fiancee after WWI. It is in French but subtitled, and well worth a watch. I think it captures the mud and terrible trench conditions of the war quite well. Blockbuster around here carries it in their foreig...

I bought one in 22 Hornet, and the fit and finish were good on mine. I don't like the wood color particularly, but I can change that. It was a shooter right out of the box, though the trigger was a might heavy. I did a little work to that to get it better. I recommend the Marbles Tang sight, as I am...

I've had numerous handguns in my life, but only 3 were Colt. I've owned a total of 4 1911's of different makes...the only one I would never get rid of is the Colt. March of 1989: 44 Mag. 15.0 gr. of Blue Dot behind a 180gr Hornady bullet. This was about 2.4 grains below the recommended starting load. Showed a series of random pierced primers. Heavier loads showed fine. I will chalk it up to detonation until proven different. And I have never used anything othe...

You might look at Hawk's selection of bullets. They are premium bullets but offer several different jacket thicknesses. I do know that in my 405 Win, the .025 jacket expanded on shoulder shot whitetail, but the .035 jacket didn't seem to. When I lived on the WY/ID border I carried the .035 bullet in...

While the Madis book indicates that the '92 produced 80% of the rifles in 44 WCF, it seems that for some reason the rifle configuration is hard to find. I have '92's in the rifle in all other calibers, but the 44 keeps eluding me for a reasonable price. Oct. Bbl, Crescent BP, and Full Mag is rather ...

71fan, We recently experienced a wide spread in SD with a tried and true load in our 38-72's. I'm talking about 200 fps extreme spread. Traced it back to the Hornady 1-shot lube we were using. By the way Ed, Low Walls in .22 schuetzen configuration are pretty unusual. Even factory special sporting rifles built on the Low Wall action are rare. Just curious...but I have seen quite a few lo-walls chambered for the 22 short. Some of them in configurations similar to your Ballard. So what type of competition were these used for??? There seem to be some pretty elaborate rifles out there chambered for the short. Nice Ballard MarlinMan......

Harry, We've been working with 2 different 40-82's as of late. Both have tight chambers, and I have to take the case neck walls to .008 to chamber smoothly with the bullets we use. Found these last night. The bullet design program makes for something really interesting. I really like the idea of being able to custom design my own mold. I may start casting now after looking at this
