The 7/08 is a 308 necked down (I assume); what is the 260? I have heard of it, but not familiar with it. I thought it was a fairly hohum round.

The 6.5x55 and 7X57 are fine, fine cartridges. If I am not mistaken, the 6.5 was also known as a fine match cartridge. Ballistics out a 29 inch barrel are not far behind a .270, and that round is legendary for its performance. The 7 has killed virtually everything on this continent. I'm jealous.

fouled 32/40 barrel

Wow! I had no idea a 32/40 barrel could be so fouled. Win. 94, made in 1919 in 32/40. This is the one I was having problems getting it to shoot with cast bullets. I found a load that shoots just OK with jacketed bullets. Mind you, I have had this gun for about 2 years, and it was time to see how it ...

230 gr. Golden Sabres almost always exclusively; if not exclusive, maybe a few 200 SWC staggered in between. I believe the SWC will not deflect as readily as a jacketed hollowpoint in the human torso. Elmer Keith was a believer in SWC being able to cut a clean straight path, even through bone.
