Re: OT: Light Duty Trucks
Jeepnik, you are right, the 250 is a "TRUCK". After being married for a while, having a kid my straight cab F-150 wasnt gonna cut it anymore. I was home on R&R from Iraq in 07 and the wife, son (less than a year old in a car seat yet) and I jumped in my truck and went out to get someth...

Re: What's the largest, most powerful cartridge/rifle you own?
Kind of a toss up between the "most powerful". For a cartridge rifle it is my Ruger K1-A in 35 whelen. When loaded right she will take anything I need her to. The other is my Pedersoli Kodiak SxS in .58. Stoked with a pair of 560gr conicals on top of 115gr of FFG, she doesnt have much for ...

Re: 45 Colt velocity / effectiveness
NonPCnraRN + 1!!! It is the size of the meplat that does the most damage in a critter. For example, the bear load I carry in my 44 mag is a 355gr LFN with a meplat of .360, and it only moves out at 1050 fps from my 4 5/8" barrel SBH. WHAT A PENETRATOR!!! WHEW!!! It is still nice and mild in the...

Puma 92 in 475 linebaugh possible?
I recently purchased a puma 454 with a 16" barrel, and it got me to thinkinng a little bit...... Yeah, uh oh........ Anyways, After talking to a few people about it and looking around a little it seems like there are plenty of 480 ruger pumas around. The opinion of most is that the 480 ruger is...

Re: Drat!!! Foiled again in my Ruger No.1 search
:D I would buy it. Firstly, the .270WM can be easily handloaded to the more strenuous levels than weaker rifles can take/use - levels that most 7x57 #1 purchasers load their rifles to. Your next biggest expenditure would be for some empty .270 WM brass to start off with (and/or dies). +1. I'm with ...

Re: on topic, met a fella today, whoo boy
Sounds like my kind of man - he has more rifles than I do but I think I have more handguns and I'm only 83. My bike is a BMW - But, I can assure you, I don't worry about what happens to my guns when I fail to pass the "wake-up" test and I'm gonna keep them until that days comes. My wife u...

Re: 40-65 Advice for a "rookie"
It is a 40-65, and I would rather handload it myself. I have never loaded black powder cartridges before, and I know it is not rocket science. Just wondering if anyone out there has loaded for it in a levergun. Most of the data I have found is for sharps type rifles and 500gr+ bullets. I'm not even ...

40-65 Advice for a "rookie"
Here is the situation. I have finally talked my Dad into taking Grandpa's 1895 Marlin outta the mothballs and do something with it. It is a 40-65 and has been checked out by a gunsmith and he says it is fine to shoot. Dont worry, this rifle has seen its better days, but when you cycle the action it ...

Re: OT- Binoculars
I stumbled upon a pair of factory re-furbished Nikon Monarch 8X42's a couple of years ago for $125. I know you are looking for 32mm or smaller, but check them out. I live in Alaska, and the terrain and weather is not always very forgiving and they have performed better than I could have ever imagine...

XS sights on a 92???
First, hello to all. I am new to the site and glad to be here. I have been reading for a while but finally became a member. Great forum and LOTS of knowledge here, I love it! Here is my question. I just bought a puma/LSI 92 in 454 & 16"barrel which will be used primarily as a camp gun, and ...
