I got the idea initially that you are going to store the rifles in that case all the time. If you are, be careful, some cases actually cause rust problems due to moisture being retained. If you're not going to store them there and I misunderstood ... oops, sorry.

Each one of the "squishy" pads mentioned above will work great in reducing felt recoil. They are not as easy to "grind" as the older firmer styles but well worth the extra effort.

The 6.5-284 is a sweetheart of a cartridge ... two of my friends (brothers) have them. There is one point of caution however. The 284 case is basically of magnun diameter so the feed rails might need modified and the magazine follower might need changed.

About a month and a half ago we had a similar problem. We have two computer critters on a network set-up. One would work, then the other, then both, then none ... you get the picture. Not being able to log on to a couple of sites was part of it.

Did you consider having a simple type sight dovetailed into the frame at the rear sort of like a stock one from a 1911 auto.

You would get a better sight picture and a bit of adjustment and it would still be easy to pack along .

It appears to be powder coated. They scraped a bunch of powder out of it. I'll have more on this as the week goes on.

Until I get more info, I would advise anyone to avoid that business and their process for firearms use.

This NEEDS updated. The guys at the shop were putting the 94 together today and discovered ALL internal dimentions were messed up. This process is some type of coating and they apparently dipped it since the inside is coated. They can't get the parts back in ... the coating closed up all the toleran...

I made up a load for my buddy that gives between 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 at 100 yards. He does have a rather gross 4 to 12 power scope on it that does give a visual edge.

The load isn't a screamer but is faster than stock.

Definitely that would make a good woods buddy. I had a birds head Vaquero with the 3 1/2 inch barrel but it was too heavy for me and it is now in a friends posession. Yours would be much nicer in the carry and balance.

I was given about 350 or so bullets for the 45acp a couple years ago. The guy gave me the 45acp dies also. I simply used that die to seat those bullets in the "Long" Colt case and had no trouble in my Bissley.

About two years ago I needed a stock for a Marlin 1894. I ordered one from Gunparts. It fit great, had some grain figure, and required next to no fitting. you might be taking more of a chance with them but I had good luck.

The shop has done maybe four in the past year. We soldered all of them shut. If yours is just a beater as you say, close the end off with something, anything to keep the moisture out ... it will also look better even as a beater.
