Re: Advice on 44MAG wheelgun

Thanks for the advice guys. I should have stated that I shoot my friends Ruger Alaskan in .454 all the time and I love it. We usually shoot .45LC out of it to save money and wrists. My father-in-law and I hunt regularly with .44MAG. He uses a 8" Ruger SuperRedHawk and I use a Rossi '92 rifle wi...

Advice on 44MAG wheelgun

Well, I am in the market for a double action wheelgun in 44MAG. I've been drooling over some S&W 629s and 29s for a while but I'm having a hard time swallowing the prices. I wanted to get some opinions on other makes like Ruger, Taurus, etc. The main purpose of this gun will be backwoods persona...

Re: Appendix carry....

If a mode of carry causes you to carry without a loaded gun (one in the chamber), then find a different mode of carry. A gun is useless unless its loaded. Thinking that you can skin that smoke wagon, rack the slide, aim...and all that in a critical incident is a good way to get yourself killed. You ...

How to drill and tap '92 barrel band for sling swivel?

I've read references to drilling and tapping the barrel band of the '92 lever actions but I haven't found the instructions. Can anyone point me in the right direction for instructions on this procedure?

Thanks.

Leaving a levergun loaded

I have been leaving my R92 .44MAG magazine tube loaded. I take my dogs for woods walks almost everyday and I carry the .44MAG...just in case. I don't feel like loading it everyday so I keep the chamber empty and the magazine full. I started wondering if the constant pressure of the magazine spring w...

Re: Rossi 92 - accessories

Well, I would definitely like to keep the tradition and nostalgia of the rifle. But I guess back in '92 they didn't really use slings much. I'm considering tapping the barrel band on the side for a QD stud and putting a QD stud in the side of the buttstock. I have also thought about forgetting the s...

There have been several sightings of lions around the other farms in my area in the last year or more. Game Commission confirmed lion tracks about a mile from my place. Well I'm done refinishing the stock on my '92. I'll post some pics later. The forend came out better than the buttstock but I guess I don't really care. I think the stain I used just wasn't the best for refinishing stocks. Anyway, I also tore the action down and slicked things up. I'm liking it.

I'd stay clear of the Walther P22s. I know they are neat guns and very fun to shoot but there are way too many reports of problems with reliability and breakage.

Stick to the Ruger, Buckmark, or Marvel .22 conversion. Proven designs for years of fun.
