Years ago I read a story about a guy in Alaska had converted a Enfield to 45-70. I may still have that mag in my stuff. I use 170's because a monster hog is also possiable during deer season were I hunt.For accuracy most rifles will let you know what weight bullet they prefer.Yup you should be ashamed ...a 30-30 is like apple pie and baseball... so Americana.

I own two Rossi 92 Pumas in 45 colt that I have slicked up.Would highly recommend a NKJ slicked up model.If your friend is well heeled a Browning 92 would be a excellent alternative.The new 1894C's are suffering from QC issues.
