Spiegel 336 in 35 Rem

Post by Premo »

I recently purchased a 336 in .35 Rem with a carved deer head in the right side of the buttstock. In Col. Brophy’s book, he refers to this model as one Marlin made for the Spiegel Company in 1963 and 1964. The 336 in question has a Z prefix making it a late 1964 and corresponding (date) with ones shipped to Spiegel. Col. Brophy indicated that 4264 of this model were sold by Spiegel. My questions surrounds the make up of 30-30 vs .35 Rem split in the 4264 units sold. Is there anyone out there who might know where to find any info, or have any info, on the number on .35 Rem sold in this configuration? Thx.

I'd like to see some pics of the rifle and a good pick of the carved deer head .

I'm pretty sure I have never seen one of these in person .

But I sure would like to see pics of yours

Do not have it in my hands yet, just got it today on gunbroker. Needs to be paid for and shipped first. Will post pics when I get it in my hands.
