Leverguns Forum Auction for Fund this Site

Post by 86er »

Once again we will hold an auction at the Leverguns Summer Safari. Please donate any items you would like. We will then give them to the highest bidder at the hunt. What will be different this time is that just prior to the hunt we will list the items to the forum. You can make a bid here and if someone on the hunt wants it they will have to outbid you. There won't be a chance to up your posted bid so you should bid as high as you're willing to go. The people in person on the hunt do have a slight advantage there, but that's the best I can do. Also, anything that is not bid on will be open to the forum after the hunt and auction concludes. So far we have a couple hundred 44 Caliber 300gr cast bullets donated by Cast Performance Bullet Co. All the proceeds will be forwarded to Paco for paying his expenses on this site. Please let me know what you will donate and have a photo ready if possible. Send items to arrive by 8/7 to:

I'm donating a cottontail rabbit and jackrabbit shoot. The winner can shoot either animal with no limit one morning and one afternoon with me driving the ranch and using a .22 rifle (or other firearm of your choice). This can be during the Safari Hunt or at another time. You can also "gift" this hunt to a child, spouse or friend.

I'm donating a bullet mold. I don't cast and don't know anything about molds. The mold is a Lyman 454424 2 cavity mold. Who ever win this I throw in a Lyman 4524?0 2 cavity mold, this mold had some surface rust inside but may still be good. Also I have Approx 75 rounds of various 38-40 once fired brass.

1. A Lyman 2 cavity 454424 mold, good shape.
2. A Lyman 2 cavity 4524?0 mold, light surface rust in mold. Goes to bid winner of first mold.
3. Approx 75 rounds of various 38-40 once fired brass.

I may have some other stuff also, will have to look and see.

When it comes closer to hunt time I will post up my cell phone number so forum members not at the hunt can bid til the last minute, witch will be 10:00 pm central time on Saturday August 9. I also have an aircard for my laptop we can also use at the ranch, I think, for online bids.

OK, this is going to sound more than a little bass akwards, but I can't really afford to do it any other way.

On July 19 I will be driving downstate and picking up a pre-safety Win 94 Ranger that appears to be in pretty decent shape (there's a thread somewhere with some pics). I am paying $200+gas for it. (Figure it will cost me $40 in gas)

I have no need or really any desire for a .30-30 W94, but I am buying it to "rescue" it before it goes to Pawn Shop Hell.

If a collection is taken from the Forum to reimburse me for the cost of the gun ($200), I will "donate" it as a "From the Forum" donation and send it to Joe to give to the next wortwhile kid or go to the highest bidder.

Does that sound reasonable to folks? Otherwise my plan was just to shoot it a little at the silhouette range while my '86 is off getting its guts replaced, then put it up for sale to the Forum...

Not a problem as far as the Post Office as long as they are shipped from and to a USA address and their are no local ordinances banning their use or possession in either the sender or recipient's address. I do suggest you stick them in a sealed plastic bag just in case the package makes it's way by USPS or FAA dogs trained to look for explosives. Wont stop it from being shipped but it could cause the package to be delayed.

I'll go through my loading bench, I'm sure I have something of value and will get pictures listed in the next few days.

Last year all the reloading components, knives and ammo sold for a fair price and overall raised the most money. However, every dollar counts when it's going to fund this site. Even $1.00 items are graciously accepted - it all adds up!

Post by Old Ironsights »

OK Boys.... It's Leverin Time!

After some discussion with a couple of folks, here's the plan... and I hope y'all fall for it.

I will, in fact, pick up that Ranger on the 19th, and Donate it and a soft case in the name of the Forum for use on 86er's Ranch as:

The Paco Kelly Leverguns Forum "Visiting Kids Ranch Rifle".

If you have a less cumbersome name let me know.

Since it is really not likely that we can individually or comunally donate guns each year to individual kids to keep forever like was done last year, having a "Visiting Kids Ranch Rifle" on hand will be a real asset to those kids who would not otherwise have access...

I will ship the gun to Joe by the end of the month. (I've got to play with it a little before I let it go... just to make sure it is err... safe. Yeah, that's it...)

If you want to assist in this effort, PM me and I will give you my PayPal email addy/mailing addy. I will let everyone know when the cost of the gun is paid for, and any overage will be used to buy some other agreed upon accessory for the Visiting Kids &/or fund the Forum.

I'll cover the Gas (about 12gal)/case & shipping as my portion of the donation, so all the Forum needs to come up with is $200. ($50 has already been pledged, so really there's only $150 left. Better hurry  )

Great going OI! First of all, for the purpose of the forum let's agree that any overage goes towards the Paco fund. Second, Richard has agreed to keep ammo on-hand for any kids that want to shoot it (he says Rem 125gr Managed Recoil). Third, (here's where we get back to the donations) for everyone that contributes I will buy a plaque stating the donation and purpose and your "Paco Kelly's..." title, PLUS each donors Forum Name listed on the plaque.

We got a scope donated to go on the rifle - assuming we can put one on it. The scope can be either a "regualr" scope or a "scout" scope depending on the set-up.

Meanwhile - keep the items for auction coming so we can raise fund to support this site.

I'll be glad to donate a box of Hornady .338 200 grain FPs for the .33 WCF if you think that anyone will be interested, Joe . Not sure about mailing live ammo, but maybe a box of older Super X .348s would also be of interest. They are the white box stuff. Let me know.

Besides the 30-30 Ranger mentioned above: (we are at $95 in specified Pledges, and an undefined amount in unspecifie pledges...)

I will offer up 50 cast Lyman 457122 "Gould" HP sized and lubed plain base bullets and 50 Ranch Dog 425gr .460 GC bullets checked, sized & lubed to .457.

Alloy is air cooled WW and lube is Liqiod Alox.

EDIT: Actually, It would probably be better if I cast these to spec... Lubed/unlubed checked/unchecked etc.

I have pure lead and WW... and can cast these in any ratio requested.

Holy Moly!! I Finally got the package sent off via Fed-Ex, but it cost me over 13 bucks. Guess I wasn't quite ready for that much freight for a 5 lb box. The first place I went to refused to accept the "hazardous" package, but the regular Fed-Ex/Kinkos center had no problems with it. Oh well, it was a nice 10 mile bicycle ride, anyway. :D

Ricky is planning to stop on the way past my house and I am donating a Bowie style knife from Legacy Arms which is made to go with the Puma leveraction rifles. He is taking it down to the hunt for the auction. I have to dig out the camera so I will post a pic soon.
