Yep, I was quite pleased to hear that Biden was the VP pick for obamination.
His past statments are a gold mine for the McCain team's ad makers.

I remember that. Is it possible that McCain is trying to throw the election? He sure seems to be attacking his base a lot.

One thing you can always count on from the GOP: they will never pass up an opportunity to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. McCain has just been handed the election on a platter. Let's see how fast he screws it up. My prediction - it will be latter this week when he announces his own VP, who won't be young or a solid conservative...piller wrote:I remember that. Re: OT - election - Guess who recommended McCain for V.P.?
About 10 or 12 years ago, John McCain appeared in television ads here in Oregon to recommend passage of a ballot measure that had its origins among Democrats in our Legislature to "close the gun show loophole" and require background checks even between private citizens swapping deer rifles. A couple of fellas who ran the best gun shows in the state pulled out when the measure passed, and the shows here have never been the same.
I will have a hard time voting for a guy from Arizona who took time out to restrict gun rights in a state many hundreds of miles away. He has a smell about him.

He will not pick a solid young conservative. He doesn't think that way. But, the Dems have two of the most liberal senators on the ticket.

if he wants to win, he'll choose hillary clinton. pleasing the conservative voter who's not going to vote for ohbama no matter what is a bad stadigy. try to get the dem vote who doesn't want ohbama.

If he picks some old white male moderate, then that confirms my suspicion that the Republicans and Democrats are just all from the same planet of space aliens who have taken over the planet and pretend to be enemies while working together.
If he picks some young or dark or female in order to please the RACISTS (aka 'Liberals' these days) who vote not on substance but appearance, but that person is still a moderate, then he could win, but the outcome wouldn't be much better (we'd just have taught the Republicans that they, too, can campaign on skin color and gender vs. actual policy).
If he picks some conservative (better yet a Libertarian) who isn't young or dark or female, he'll have done the RIGHT thing, if not necessarily the smart thing, and he'll likely lose, but I may still hold hope for the party to regain some integrity.
If he picks some conservative/Libertarian type who is young or dark or female, the sun will once again shine*, and there may actually be hope for a win, AND a decent presidency. (*but sadly, it will be over vast sheets of ICE, in Hades!)
Why oh Why oh Why didn't the Republicans nominate Huckabee and/or Paul . . . ?
(Why oh Why oh Why do we have a Constitutionally, logically, economically, and historically ILLITERATE electorate?)

Because Huckabee is a freakazoid who scared fiscal conservatives with his talk about (government monitored, faith based) wealth redistribution and Paul is/was too devoted to the Constitution and Liberty to suit the Big Gooberment Majority.AJMD429 wrote: ...

Today's Republican Party is crooked. They wanted McCain from the beginning! Why else would they convince Romney to "suspend" instead of terminate his candidacy, thus not allowing his delegates to be redistributed, mostly to Huckabee? In other words, my vote in the primary didn't even count thanks to the Republican Party "fixing" it so that Huckabee had no chance at all to contend!
If many of our freedoms weren't in immediate peril, I would vote democrat just as a matter of principle! If McCain chooses Romney, I'm voting for Obama/Biden and immediately moving to another country.

Sadly, "Political Correctness" is the most powerful religion in America, and it has ruined our society.

If McCain can talk Rice into the VP spot it's a lock, but it doesn't look like she wants any part of it. His next best choice would be TX Rep Kay Bailey Hutchinson. That would give him a good portion of the undecided women and 15% or more of the pizzed off Hilary democratics.
