Re: Christmas Eve - Korea - 1966 - The Rest of the Story

Post by JimT »

This year - 2008 - I received an email from a man who said in part "Mr. John Chovan, the man who invited you to Christmas Eve, is my neighbor" He gave me his address and phone number - Mr. Chovan does not use the internet - and I was able to call him!

We had a nice time visiting on the phone. He assured me that the facts in my narrative were "pretty close" to the way he remembered it.

And I plan to make a trip to see him in the not-to-distant future!

Ain't the Internet wonderful?

Jim;
Thanks - again.
Your story is wonderful - and it reminds me of my own 1966 Christmas; my fourth Christmas away from family while in the Navy. My Christmas that year was much different; yet, for me it remains one of the most memorable.

Thanks for that Jim. Brought back a lot of memories of Christmas 1975, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981 in the good ole ROK... It DOES get COLD there. :!:
Sincerely,

Hobie

Thanks for posting that Jim, it must have been really something to talk to Mr Chovan after all that time.
