Replacement butt stock for 1892
I recently got an 1892 round barrel rifle I am fooling around with. The butt stock is busted to the point I need to get a replacement. Where is the best place to get a good one? I need one that is already inletted as much as possible and made for a rifle buttplate.
I am kind of nervous about the job because I don't have any experience doing it and don't want to screw up a piece of wood. I had an 1892 around last deer season a guy at work was letting me fool with. I chickened out on shooting a deer with it. But the weekend I didn't take it I shot a doe about 30 yards away so I regretted not taking it.
I am determined to get this gun operational and a top load developed for it over the summer so I can hunt it this fall. The bore looks pretty good. A guy is going to let me borrow a set of dies.
Any hot tips about fitting the stock or good rifle loads for 38-40 would be appreciated.

You could always use the real powder in it. I'm talking about BP of course.

A strait grip 94 winchester stock can be made to fit.The pre-64 stocks are easier to fit.Someone else with more hands on experience should be along soon. Here is a link to Macon Gunstocks http://macongunstocks.net/winchester_mo ... ts_32.html

I was about to refer you to the "One Sticky" for a "how to" article, but the link didn't go anywhere. What happened to the "One Sticky"????

Up until the start of WWII which was the end of the 92 production the 92's and 94's used the same wood.

Re: Replacement butt stock for 1892
I just finished installing a new buttstock and forearm using Precision Gunstock products. The accuracy was very good and it took little work to fit the pieces. I would use them again.
Re: Replacement butt stock for 1892
Thanks for the info guys. I am going to order a stock from Precision this week. I am just going to take it slow and keep my fingers crossed I don't screw it up.
