The most expensive levergun yet

Post by KirkD »

Just sold for $450,000. Check it out .... http://www.cowanauctions.com/upcoming_d ... emId=69070 As far as I'm concerned, it never did a lick of work in its life and has no history. On the other hand, it is a nice piece of art.
Kirk: An old geezer who loves the smell of freshly turned earth, old cedar rail fences, wood smoke, a crackling fireplace on a snowy evening, pristine wilderness lakes, the scent of
cedars and a magnificent Whitetail buck framed in the semi-buckhorn sights of a 120-year old Winchester.

Kirk - I'm with you. What a shame that it was never enjoyed by anyone!

I agree, but we can enjoy looking at it. Maybe that's all the original owner intended, then again why put all the working parts in it? :?:

I hate to think about it being left at home during play time. Great googily moogily, look at that grip checkering.

It's a beauty alright, IMO it would look even better with less checkering on the forearm :D :D

I have to say -- I've never liked the gold inlays :?:

On the other hand - the engraving and checkering are simply outstanding.

I can't believe manufacturers haven't figured out a quality, cheap way to do this at the factory.

Mine is a close second. The forearm has 48 notches in it. Does that count as checkering. It is 33 WCF too!

Art yes. Gun no. A gun is/has been fired (more than proof).

I'm with rangerider. If it's only going to be an Art Piece, why make it Functional?

Without the guts, it wouldn't be what it is. As it is, it will always have that tantalizing potential! :D
Have you hugged your rifle today?
