Old man's idea of perfect sights on Win 94AE 44 Mag w/pics
Dang it, daughter took my camera so I can't post pics just yet.
Daughter No. 2 had a camera but I had to supply batteries and memory card.
I just completed what I believe will be the ultimate low light sight setup on my
Winchester 94AE 44 Mag and HAVE to tell you guys.
1. Modified a NECG Universal Banded Ramp front sight.
A. Removed material from forward face to flush with top of sight.
B. Cut overall length to fit in front of barrel band.
C. Drilled bottom of band to fit magazine plug screw.
D. Did not follow directions on Super Blue cold bluing solution and have a nice mottled look now.
E. Installed NECG Fiber Optic front sight insert (low).
F. Installed NECG Window Hood for Universal sight.

2. Made a dovetail spacer to raise the rear sight.
A. Installed spacer (blued propperly this time).
B. Installed Williams WGRS-54 sight onto spacer.
C. Shortened mounting screws after three people (two were machinists) couldn't get the sight mounted without locking up the bolt.
D. Installed Williams Fire Sight Ghost Ring Aperture onto the WGRS-54.

I actually have the same sights on my Glenfield 30-30 and my Winchester 45 Colt, BUT my rear sights on both of those are in the rear sight dovetail on the barrel. Same sights though. Great sight picture, speed and accuracy!

Neat project. I like the factory flip up Big Bore sights.

Great idea! That setup should be fast and on target, let us know how it works.

Very nice. I like receiver sights on my 44mag lever guns too. Good setup you have there.

You folks must not have so strong a correction in your glasses as I do. This summer I bought an air rifle, the first gun I've had with fiber optic sights. I soon learned that the chromatic distortion in my thick lenses cause large shifts in zero, just by turning your head a wee bit. If you have glasses, be sure the dots at both ends are the same color. On my Crosman, the front is red and the rears are green. It's amazing how far I can shift zero by adjusting the angle of my head to the sights.

Kule. Lack of low-light capability is my main beef with iron sights.... Have you taken it hunting yet?
