45 Colt pair

Post by Old Savage »

Here is a matched pair in that they both can handle the same heavy loads and shoot great.

Hello,

I have a similar pair.....a three screw Blackhawk with 4 5/8" barrel, and a brand new Puma 92 with a 24 inch barrel! I might be able to do a photo...... :?

VERY COOL.

I have a weakness for 'sets' and 'pairs' - must be some sort of obsessive compulsive thing...!

I can't wait for the 'winter doldrums' - when if we get on each other's nerves, YK will soothe us by starting his 'nice pair' posts. ( :o No - not that kind of 'nice pair'... :? )

Actually, some enterprising soul should make a card game with lots of types of guns on the cards, and you could score based on various sorts of 'pairs' and 'series' - the more you knew about the various guns, the likelier you'd be able to connect them as having whatever thing in common.

OS, is that a Puma? If so, i have been thinking about one of those hard since i lost out on a Win. Trapper .45 auction recently. I cant get the 45 carbine idea out of my head now and my Blackhawk needs a same caliber "buddy". (i already have a .44 mag Marlin --- i dont know why i keep filling up the safe with rifles that have similar mission parameters, but oh well -- sometimes being Obsessive Compulsive sucks)

If you had to do it all over agian, would you get the .454 Casull version since it also fires .45 colt? -- or would the shorter rounds muck up the chamber?

prices through Bud's guns for either (45 or 454) are awesome

OH, this is a grand idea! Now I have a winter project. Would be a great way to teach the kids more about firearms. There are all kinds of possibilities here!!! :D :D :D

Buffboy, that is a fine pair. I reckon the Buck has seen some use by the looks of that case.

My uncle gave me that Buck as a high school graduation present in 1975. It's been a good knife. The case is a little battered(I resemble that too) but the knife is still doing fine.

OS, I bet the OM 45 outshoots the Rossi! :D A little tidbit of info---There are less OM 3 screw .45 Blackhawks out there than there are flattop 44's.--------------------Sixgun

My favorite pair is a Winchester 1892 SRC and a 1st generation Colt SAA in 38-40. They will take anything on the ranch two or four legged.

I have shot the pair, and should mention that the Rossi put a hog on the smoker for us using Granpa's "hog medicine". It was served with corn tortillas and Mamma's own salsa, which JerryB is aquainted with.

Very nice looking 45 Colt pair, OS.

I like to put together pairs, too, but pairs of rifles and carbines and pairs of rifles in different calibers. I never have gotten beyond just having a personal carry Glock 40 S&W and hunting backup S&W 44 mag Mountain Gun. I'd sure like to have a SAA Peace Maker someday, though! :D Then I'd want a pair!!! :D
