Question for Hobie

Post by DavidS »

Hobie,
When the regular Leverguns forum goes back on line, will the posts that we have used on the temporary forum be added to our totals in the regular forum? Or does everyone start from scratch again?

I imagine that everyone but me will start from scratch.

JUST KIDDING! We'all probably start from scratch with the new software just as we did here.
Sincerely,

Hobie

You can look at it as an opportunity.

A good chance to start over with a new cooler sounding sign on handle.

I think I'll stay with my name....

There are forums which REQUIRE that you use your real name. How would you all feel about that?
Sincerely,

Hobie

I was hoping for S&H Green Stamps...which may just give an idea of how dang old I am...this getting old thing is over rated, but I guess the alternative isn't the best either.

Suites me just fine. I've been using J Miller since day one.

Hopefully though we won't loose our post count. I like that big number. I never count it anymore but I don't wanna loose 'em.

Unless Joel finds an alternative to PHPBB that will import PHPBB backup files, we're outta luck as far as keeping post counts and such. This is just a bandaid as they look for a real solution. It lets us BS and "interface" and waste time, learn, etc instead of being frustrated and go through withdrawal due to a down forum. I feel sorry for the sixgunner.com guys - all they got was a "We're outta business for the time being" sign...

If anyone's got an in with Joel you might ask him to drop me a line. We'd be happy to set up a temp forum for sixgunner.com as well as this one. And for the same charge. :-)

Can ya do one of those polls on this forum?
Seems a vote would indeed be interesting. :)

We can do polls - what kind of poll questions did you have in mind?

I've nothing to hide.
More then a few here know my real name.
I don't use it, because of fraud, weirdo's ect.
We were always getting spam from the other site, and I've been called before from a sales person who has gotten my name from a forum where I had used my real name and location but not my phone # , wondering if I wanted to buy his brand of mountain bike parts!!
I hardly ever get spam mail. But mine has gone up 10 fold, since signing on here.

I'm aware that there are all kinds of ways to get my name and personal info.
I just don't use my name on a forum, because why make it any eaiser for them. Ounce of prevention.
That which does not kill me has made a grave tactical error.
