OK, I'm going to go out on a limb here and hoping I don't offend anyone, especially TM himself. I've gradually gotten to know TM like a lot of people here over the years. I whole-heartedly confess that his use of ALL CAPS was originally disconcerting to me as I work in PUBLIC EDUCATION, and while I am an administrator/advocate of "special needs" children, I still see myself as trying to save the last reminents of a civilized and educated society before it degrades to such a point that no one even bothers to write using a capital "I" anymore, in favor of the internet use of simply "i". I really struggle with that. The internet does have its "rules of decorum", so to speak, but its hard for me to support the "dumbing down of America".

I've been around on the various versions of this forum to see TM at his best and his worst. But like so many mentioned, I have come to know TM's true character and I have seen TM really, really shine as of late, and he seems to be on a pronounced positive roll for quite some time now.

Its also been pointed out to me, more than once, that the, uh, "more mature" members of our society, have a hard time adapting to all our new technologies and "rules of decorum". Most of them don't do the internet at all, not even email! They actually take the time to pick up the phone and call somebody. Hmmmm. Imagine that. A personal phone call. I've taken that to be a real reminder of maybe how we SHOULD be doing things, and I do actually pick up a dang phone and call my forum friends like Old Savage, or at least write a long email letter to Kansas Ed, to ask how they are doing. There is a lot to be said for that personal touch, and the loss of that in an environment where NO ONE uses their "God-given name" except a rare few and the rest of us use psuedonyms instead, really says something about how impersonal and cowardly the internet has made us. I've really come to appreciate TM for who he actually is, and accept what conditions for his participation he is comfortable with.

I also have had some of the funniest moments on this forum because of TM's wit and good nature, and when the nickname of "Cap'n AllCaps" was originally applied, I laughed my butt off!

While I don't want to see a rash of imatators or a complete "break-down" of the English language on this forum, Terry, I BESEECH you my friend, don't stop writing in all caps.

Your identity is closely tied to your use of all-caps in your posts, "Cap'n Sir". It is a part of what you do here. It just isn't the same for me, or for so many good people on this forum, if you do otherwise.

Please don't change.

Respectfully submitted,

-Andy Tuttle aka CowboyTutt

P.S. My Dad's name in the service and to his friends for the rest of his life was only "Tut" so it is a family nickname that I was eventually proud to assume after he left me and I was eventually comfortable in doing so. So while CowboyTutt is my "psuedonym", its also a part of a family name and tradition that I wanted to assume and I happily answer to both Tutt and Andy to my friends. Now, my Russian Grandmother calls me "Drusha" and that's another story.....

Terry, keep doing what you do! We know your personality, and we expect you to be curmudgeonly at times (at times??). You've been doing it for as long as I can remember, on the old board and this one. To those of you who are getting bent out of shape about one of our most prized members, who has forgotten more about guns and shooting than most of us will ever know, typing in all caps, GET OVER YOURSELVES!!!! If the mods on here had a problem with it, they would have said something a long time ago. Obviously, they don't care, why do you?

I spent 30 years of my life as a cop, a great part of which involved trying to resolve conflict between people who for one reason or another, often ego, could not be civil to one another. I also have spent the last 62 years as a gun owner (admitedly, my first was a Daisy Red Ryder at the age of 5!) and have watched many attacks on our 1st Ammendment rights from a multitude of different sources...more particularly in the last 20 or so years.

My point is, we as gun owners cannot afford the infighting that has become rampant in this country because of "in your face" attitudes.....think "devide and conquer". We need all of the gun sites regardless of whether we find their member's reasons for subscribing to that particular forum are the same as ours or not. On the other hand, I abhor elitism, and simply go away when it rears it's head. But, as long as those persons are struggling with the rest of us to protect our rights to gun ownership, I am all for them and will do nothing to damage the forum they are a part of. I simply won't participate in their conversations if I diametrically disagree with their posts. I don't consider that this is a sign of weakness, and I don't consider it as being politically expedient, I just want a whole lot of people out there fighting for my grandsons' rights to enjoy forearms as I have for these many years.

I tried hard to avoid making this sound like a rant, and I wasn't trying to take sides in this, just offering another viewpoint from one with no personal equity in the discussion other than as a lover of fine guns..or not so fine guns for that matter. There is a place for all of them, although I endeavor to buy American when I can.

Cheers..

Well, I don't post much, anywhere anymore. But I lurk. First I ever heard of a S&W website, just didn't look for one, don't have a S&W anymore. I thought. So I got poking around to make sure and danged if it turns out I didn't get rid of 'em all. Found a 4" NIB 624

Guess I never thought about folks being kicked off gunsites, but it looks like it happens. To bad for the S&W site that they booted someone like TM. A loss for them was a gain for us since TM has to spend more time here.

And I for one like the CAPS LOCK TM USES.

Ninnies one and all.

You can add Marlin Owners moderators and Azshooter's to that list as well. If they are not just politically correct Awipes, they have other personal agendas at work. Or, they are just not gunners! All just boils down to cliquey power hungry narcissists, in my opinion. Some I have met just left me with an unsatisfied need to meet them in person,.... maybe some day!!

Good job Terry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with your view on the Marlin Owners--I got kicked off that one myself when one of their newbees ran about 20 jokes in one day--all belittling various ethnicities. Low Class. I took objection to Polish jokes,(that's my ancestry) and I expressed my opinion, not just on behalf of me, but for all of the other members of about 20 other groups of Americans who were belittled as well, and got kicked off for "foul language". Some things are OK--but this guy insulted everybody's ancestry that he could think of--no doubt a stupid narcissist trying to be funny. I wonder what the Marlin Owners vision is of political correctness is? Boneheads will be boneheads. I can do without websites like the Marlin Owners bunch of bigots.

Just my 2cents worth, but I personally could not care any less about the all caps that Terry uses. I have learned from him and hope to continue to learn. Since he has more knowledge on the subject than I am likely to ever have, it is worth my time to read his posts no matter what font or whether they are in all caps. I am on here because I like the forum and I am learning a lot from it. That is just my 2 cents worth.

I been hanging around here a few years now and yep every winter when we are stuck indoors we get cranky, happens every winter. Tis no big deal really.

I consider every one here a freind, fellow shootists but individuals. It is easy for folks to start looking inwards n' start bickering. Takes guts to back off and let things chill.

Long may it last this place but if ever this place gets cliquey, I'm gone!

SOME MODS AND OR FORUM OWNERS GET HYPER SENSITIVE ABOUT WHAT'S SAID ABOUT THEM. I'VE EVEN HEARD ABOUT SOMEONE GETTING BANNED FOR LIFE FOR SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT ONE FORUM ON ANOTHER ONE. CHEEZ??? HOW NUTSO CAN YOU GET?

In Japan people who reach a certain age are considered to have attained a great deal of wisdom. At that point they become a National Treasure. I personally consider TM to be a National Treasure and I am honored to have him on the forum I call home.

I agree, although the funniest part is that whereas formerly some folks wanted TM to QUIT using uppercase, NOW others are just as passionate that he RESUME doing so...

I hope we all devote this much energy and enthusiasm and advocacy come the next political election, and don't waste it on who types what and how...

Anyway, time to pick on someone else now. Perhaps Hobie could come up with a rotating schedule of who gets picked on each day. If a person is too thin-skinned to be poked fun at, he could stay off the forum that day, or we could let others 'substitute' and take the hit for him. Kind of like the 'carbon credit exchange'; I'm sure Hobie would just love to add that to his stuff-to-do list...

The gist should be apparent, yet for some the forest is hidden by the trees.

Start w/cap, end w/punctuation and try to spell most of the words correctly.

I've already commented that I wasn't concerned if everything was posted in caps lock.

I'm not going to read it, yet that's no loss in itself.

I DID GET A PM FROM HER WARNING ME I WAS ON DOUBLE-SECRET-PROBATION OR SOME EQUALLY STUPID THING, AND I THEN PROCEEDED TO TELL HER WHAT I THOUGHT ABOUT THAT AND THE WHINERS ON THAT SITE AMONG OTHER THINGS.
I DID NOT USE PROFANITY NOR WAS I ABUSIVE TO HER PERSONALLY,NOR WOULD I EVER DO SUCH A THING ON THE 'NET . BUT I DID KNOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN FROM DEALINGS THERE BEFORE WITH THE FORMER BRAINDEAD OWNER, MIKE PACKWOOD.
ACTUALLY, I LATER SENT A THANK -YOU-FOR-KICKING-ME-OFF-YOUR-SITE EMULE TO THE CURRENT OWNER, AND HE ANSWERED WITH A SHORT QUIP I LAUGHED AT FOR FIVE MINUTES. HIS NAME IS LEE SOMETHING [ I REMEMBER NOW...LEE JARRETT.. ] AND IT IS PLAIN HE IS NOT AS EGOTISTICAL AS THE FORMER OWNER AND DOES HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR.
I STILL DO NOT QUITE UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED THERE OVER THE YEARS SINCE MY PAL DON CARROLL WAS A MODERATOR THERE. AFTER HE DIED THE WHOLE BOARD WAS TAKEN OVER BY THE GUNWHORES WHO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT SHOOTING, KNOW THE COST OF EVERYTHING, AND THE VALUE OF NOTHING.

And probably break a few 2x4s! I notice something that I've never seen before (neophyte that I am), is that they have a dealio that show when someone clicks on a link from another forum. I notice there's 6 or 8 instances of links from Leverguns going over there to look at the thread.

Whether you do Caps or not Terry, is truly of NO consequence. My son is just the opposite, he only types in lowercase and uses almost NO punctuation. I finally realized that the only thing that happened with my berating him, was that my hand got sore from thumpin' him upside the head. If I got over my close-mindedness, I could understand his intent and prose, perzackerly! Sometimes, it's that we need to get over ourselves, not how we perceive others.

Good thing we don't have acres of "collectors" around here... or PC types... or those whose feelings get all tangled up in their skivvies... like on another site I like to poke fun at! Just be quiet, Jack!

Much ado about nothing as far as I'm concerned. However, if Terry doesn't resume his all CAPS posting, I'll have to take up the cause and do it. Somebody's got to!!!

Well, if Terry won't be "Cap'n ALLCAPS" anymore, then we need a new hero to play the part of the Cap'n and I nominate Ed for 2010. Maybe we need to elect who plays the hero every year?????

Why don't we all go over to the S & W Forum and join the thread by responding in ALL CAPS? Daily, you hear people say PC talk is nonsense, and then they turn around and say it ain't politically correct. Haven't we the people learned yet that very, very, very (for the mad grammarians lurking here) F E W politicians are correct about anything?

I used to frequent that site and found it fairly boring! Personally I think the S&W site was a gathering place for collectors and not shooters. They can tell you book values and how many of what model were made but FEW IMO could cross the bridge regarding practical applications of shooting them. I think that is largely because most combat oriented pistol shooting has taken to autos. All that being said, I STILL LOVE A SMITH REVOLVER!!!

Wandered over to the S&W Forum to see what Terry had to say. After searching the members list I found "Terry Murbach, Junior Member, 0 Posts". Ironically it says on the right hand side of the profile, "Terry Murbach has not made any friends". Guess not since they banned you.

FWIW

1) Terry hasn't been a "junior" since Christ was a corporal. ;)

2) He should have at least one "friend" now, over there - since my visit (Rangr44)

I do not know how my name is registered that way there. I have always used my given name there, WILL TERRY , but I suspect the owner put my real name in there now to keep me from re-registering under that name. Like I give a FRA huh ??!! I will say that they are not kidding about the kick-off though as I cannot even access the site to look at it. The last time I was so honored by the S&W site I could access and see everything but could not post anything, answer anything etc etc.
SO, I cannot even see what Hobie put there in my honor. Did they also remove my post that caused all the fun and games, or could you folks see how silly they reacted to a rhetorical question of curiosity ??

Dont look back, Terry..... Greybeards and MarlinOwners (especially the clowns at MarlinOwners) are not worth the effort....of course, I've been kicked off both numerous times (imagine that :P ). At MO, even mentioning that a 45-70 might be better than a .444 will get you in trouble just like that. I went to S&W a few times years ago, but they were just snooty.....same thing with RFC. This place gives me a warm fuzzy even when I don't deserve it.
