Mind if I step down off my horse for a while?
Hi All
Is it all right if I step down a while? Your fire looks warm and the coffee smells great.
I go by the handle of Kid Couteau. I hail from Northern Maine about 12 miles from Canada.
I am a teacher by trade and a leatherworker and knife maker by hobby. Also a big gun enthusiast.

A hearty welcome to you! Main is a beautiful state with its wilderness, Brook Trout, hunting, and sea coast.

Howdy Kid,
Welcome----Good bunch of dudes here. In case you did not read the rules, newcomers have to send each member who has between 2,661 or more posts an antique 1886 Winchester. I'll have mine in 50-110 Express. -----------------Sixgun

Feel free to grain your horse and pour a cup of Arbuckle's.
You ain't the only leather butcher or knife grinder around here, and even a few teachers.
What do you teach? Tell me about your leather work, I've been doing that for 20-odd years. And you might as well start getting some gun and knife photos ready cause someone is bound to ask.
So make yourself at home while someone rustles up some beans and biscuits.

OH YEAH, ATE THERE, THE FIRST MCDONALDS I EVER SAW ON AN AMERICAN AIR BASE. IT MIGHT BE COMMON NOW, I DO NOT KNOW. AND I WAS AMAZED WHEN I SAW IT THE FIRST TIME AT LORING IN THE VERY EARLY '80'S I THINK IT WAS.kid_couteau wrote:Im 40 years old and don't recall there ever being a McDonalds there

THEN WE GOT TIRED OF IT AND DROVE TO BANGOR, GOT STUFFED AT A WENDY'S, AND THOROUGHLY SLOSHED AT JIMMY'S PLACE. ANOTHER ONE WE LIKED IN BANGOR WAS THE PILOTS GRILL RIGHT NEAR DOW AFB, WHICH IS NOW THE BANGOR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.

Climb on down and set a spell. I'll go put some more coffee on.
Love your knife work. I've been wanting to start fiddling around with that stuff. I've got a charcoal forge I made, mostly for heat treating. I want to start learning stock removal before I try my hand at forging. If you've got any pointers, I'd love to hear them.
These guys are good folks, and I'm sure you'll fit in well here.

Just ignore the "synthetic stocks are evil" comments if they go after you about the Appalachian Assault Rifle. As a more 'traditional' levergunner, I of course had to stick with REAL WOOD stocks on my Night Scout - http://www.levergunscommunity.com/viewt ... =1&t=23531, but of course the hard core guys got after me because it was stainless, or because of the flashlight.
