I could never understand the tattoo thing. I don't want to put unidentiified chemicals under my skin. What really gets me is when you see someone (usuall a girl) with Chinese characters on their body and they say it means "peace or love etc" and you ask them who told them that and they say Bubba the artist. I just love the look on their face when I say "You better go to China town and have that translated cause my Chinese is rusty but i don't think that is what it says" :D :D

We established a rule in our house years ago when my son was about 14 years old.

DON'T COME HOME WITH ANYTHING TATTOOED OR PIERCED THAT YOU DON'T WANT CUT OFF.

Simple right?

I like tattoos with a meaning. I have unit emblems on my upper arms from previous deployments. I also have my blood type and medical allergies tattooed inside my right forearm. That being said, I don't like tattoos on women.

Standing offer to every kid in my family... I will pay for your first tatoo... but I get to pick where it goes and what it is.

No one wants "tinkerbell on the forehead". Imagine that.

What's that little blurb Rush puts into his show on occasion..." I had the name of our band tattooed on my forehead. Unfortunately, I didn't know how to spell "Maroon..."

IMNSHO, that pretty well sums it up.

Whaddaya do in the Spring, when the old lady wants to "redecorate...?"

To each his own, I reckon --- just don't shove it at me and demand that I respect it as "art"

Know an Asian-American guy who swears he talked to a biker dude with Chinese ideograph tats. Asked the guy what they meant & was told "Bad-A*s". Asian -American guy said it really meant, "I eat shi*"

Hard not to regard tatoos as a "21st century mullet".

Having been an leo I have no respect for tatoos. If that is what you want I cann't tell you no but don't expect me to hold you in high esteem any time soon.

Gee, that sounds like what my 'ol man told me and my 3 brothers too!

And back in the early 80's when guys in our area started getting earrings, he said if we got those -- he'd take his knife, cut off the earring AND make it so we'd need to use tampons for the rest of our lives!!!

Wanna guess how many 'tats and 'rings we got????????????????

Will be 49 in a few months and have never gotten a tattoo or piercing .

Couple times I thought I would like a small maybe 3" tall tat of a 6 point Sika Stag and underneath the date for each one I took .

And then I'd think about it somemore and think WTF , I don't need this !

But the biggest deterring factor for me is "I HATE NEEDLES"

And right there is probably the best use for a tattoo ever.

Lots of ink on the morons inside DOC... and not all of it on the inmates.

My biggest reason(s) for not getting any: (A) $$$$$$ (B) extra Identifying Marks = Bad.

Tat said, FAKE Ink can help a guy get away with a lot...

WOW! Lot's of negative energy regarding tattoos.

I thought they're quite creative. But not for everyone.

Well, Big Mike, I won't show *these* men, they're liable to start cutting bits off you :-)

Those tatts are pretty horrible, I'm afraid (sheesh, hope none of them belong to someone here). It takes a good artist to do art.

Except for the last one, that's kinda cool.

Me? I like well done tatts. I like piercings, in general. But I'm here 'cos I like leverguns!

Had to take the Grouch to ER two weeks ago. There was a young couple there. She had a staph infection with huge pustules all over her. Came from a tattoo she had put right above the crack of the backside. The husband didn't know it was there, and just sat glaring at her and asking, "just where and when did you get that tatoo?" I thought it was funny as anything I have seen lately. Do you think she may have been out partying without him?? Personally I hate tatoos. Cons always have tats that have meanings. Druggie women tat their legs with different little ugly things to indicate different drugs they have done or like to do. Some of my friends wives jumped on the tat wagon when it was so popular about 10 to 15 years ago. Now those tats have sagged and bagged and are SO UGLY.

I definitely understand not wanting tattoos. Personally, I have a large fish skeleton tattooed on my forearm. It means a lot to me, as fishing is and has been my passion my entire life. I had to think about it for five years before I decided it was a good thing as opposed to a mistake. I have no idea how I'll feel in the future, but I definitely don't regret it yet. Actually, I thought a couple of those deer tattoos were very well done. Those guys will probably always be hunters, and a deer is much better than something meaningless like Chinese symbols that say nothing important or a drug/gang reference. For the record, I think tattoos are horribly unattractive on women.
