H322 & the 30-30?
After a lot of reading and conferring to my Sierra 5th edition manual I finally bought some H322 today. I've noticed that Brian Pearce highly recomends this powder with both 150gr & 170gr bullets. He has made mention of 31.5gr in several articles, according to him it has always performed very well in several rifles over the years giving both great accuracy and performance. My Sierra manual also listed this as either the powder to use for accuracy and for hunting loads. So does anyone here use this powder in their 30-30? If so how has it performed for you?
Re: H322 & the 30-30?
I've used it in the .35 Rem and the loads were accurate but I haven't used it in the .30 WCF.
Sincerely,

I used mostly that over the years in three 30/30 leverguns.
IIRC I used around 32 grains with a 150 Speer, meters quite well too.
30/30 does quite well with the faster rifle powders.

Nath how well do those loads shoot for you? I've noticed that Brian Pearce always mentions 31.5gr of this powder with a 150gr bullet. In fact he wrote an article on the Bicentenial Win 1894 in the last Rifle magazine. He used some handloads using H322, W748, H335, and H4895. The H322 load shot a group of 1.45", W748 2.00", H335 1.85", and H4895 was 2.10". It is this kind of performance that made me decide on this powder.
Re: H322 & the 30-30?
I am working up a load for the 130 grain bullets. H322 is one of the most promising powders I have tried. It is giving slightly better accuracy than H4895 and IMR3031. RL-7 is very accurate but it is on the fast side. I can't measure accuracy any better until I get a better sight and target interface. I am going to experiment with different targets on my next range trip.

Re: H322 & the 30-30?
Unfortunatly I no longer have a 30/30 but my first cross bolt safty model trapper would shoot sub 2" groups at 100 paces scoped. That was over 15years ago now.
My last Trapper had issues I could not figure out and is a long story but it shot no worse on old H322 loads than any other fuel.
Foolishly listening to peers made me sell that first trapper and I sure wish I had not listened as it was a shooter for sure. If I did still have it it would still be running on H322 now!

h322 was the first powder I tried in my 30-30 at 29 grains which may be a little low.My rifle seems to prefer 3031 and it seems to burn a bit cleaner.

29grain is still in the zone of goodness with H322

I use H322 for my .444 Marlin reloads. It is a very accurate powder. It has been said it is the most popular and most accurate powder for .308 in benchrest shooting. I use IMR3031 for my .30-30 reloads. The next time I'm reloading .30-30 ammo I'll try H322 for 20 or so rounds to see how it does.
