well I did it :-)

Post by H_Talon »

just came back from back east, and as I was going I dropped off
2, 336 marlins in 30-30 to G Reeder, I pick them up on my return.
I had him ream out the chambers to his 30 gnr.

I'll be looking to get 2700fps with 135grns projectiles.

I have a contender he did a few years back works great.

anyway .. I'm looking for 135grn cast flat tip, gas checked
projectiles to load. anyone know where I can get a good deal,
looking to get about 1500 or so. of course some cheap 30-30 cases
would be a good thing to :-)

I added skinner rear sights and scout bases and have scopes
on the way (will post pic's when the scopes come in).

any suggestions where to look would be a great help.

thanks all ..

well ,, I added a XO scout scope base, skinner rear sights,
and Reeder reamed out the chamber of the 30-30 till it had
just enough neck left to hold a bullet.

30-30 on left, 30gnr on right. the reloading data shows it to be about middle
of the 308 range with a 135grn projectile.

so I'm looking for a company who makes 135grn flat tips with a gas check ..

brass if formed by fire forming a 30-30 ..

thanks for asking :-)

not answering your question, but laser cast makes a gas-checked 170 gr. RNFP and a 200 gr RN

I saw those, I'm hoping for 135 grn, if not I'll use 150's :-) I bunch of company's make
150s and up but I'd really like 135s :-)

but thanks for responding :-)

There are the 125gr Ballistic Tips, I have cut the plastic off the ends and also the 110gr V-Max it's plastic tip pulls right out. The 110 vmax is deadly on yotes out of a 30-30.
