Found a personal "grail" recently . . .
. . . a low-digit "BO" Marlin 1895 with the eight (8) groove rifling:
I had one back in the late 70s and early 80s and let it get away from me; the only gun I've sold that I later regretted.
It came with a Weaver 3X scope in Redfield rings and base. I removed that, cleaned it all up inside and out and added a Williams 336 5D receiver sight and took it out yesterday to the range. It was "minute of empty quart Pennzoil bottle" once I got the Williams squared away. This one shoots just a good as the other one I had.
What's amazing is the blueing and wood -- there isn't a mark on them. Not a dent, not a speck of rust freckling, nothing.
This one was $400 with the scope, and another $100 for six full and one partial boxes of 70s-era Winchester and Remington 45-70 factory ammo. Heckuva deal, IMO.

Nice one. I had one just like it a long time ago too and foolishly traded it off on something else.

Nope, sort of word of mouth, came out of an estate. Judging from the partial box of ammo, the gun was fired five times. Or 25 times and I didn't get the full box of empties.rjohns94 wrote: . . . Was that a gun show find? . . .

You stole that gun. A very fine rifle. Congrats on finding it.

Handsome rifle - they should still be made like that! Any plans for the K3?

I have one that is just a year or two newer than that one, mine is a Micro Groove. Shoots extremely well, and wears a Weaver 3x scope. Let me know if you want to sell that scope.

I had one JUST like the pic, sight and all, in the mid-80's, it's the only Marlin I ever had that I wish I had back. That gun would shoot 3-shot cloverleafs @ 100yds with factory Remington 405gr SP's. Traded it to a bud in a weak moment and now he won't part with it.Noah Zark wrote:. . . a low-digit "BO" Marlin 1895 with the eight (8) groove rifling:

Good Deal!

Nice Find! They sure don't make them like they used to, regrettably.
