I am a Newbbie to the leverguns
Hello,
I just registered on this site. Last week I bought my 1st levergun at Cabellas. It was a Henry H001 carbine in 22lr. Only paid $229. Took t out to the range and I didn't have to change a thing. My son tried the gun and had the same results. It is a definitely fun gun to shoot.
Just wanted to introduce myself.

Re: I am a Newbbie to the leverguns
Cool ! I have a whole passel of levers now, (i think its 8, or maybe 9 -- LOL) -- when i joined this forum a scant 18 months or so ago, i only had one .
A Henry .22 is part of the flock and justifiably gets more rounds through it than any other -- cheap to shoot, and is close enough to the feel of my model '94 winchester, i almost consider shooting it to be "training" for the big guns as well.
funny sidenote--- the Henry looks close enough at a quick glance that i grabbed it instead of a .45 Trapper i was needing to sight in one day. I got to the range and promptly slapped myself in the forehead for being too scatter brained. (but not as bad as when my brother slipped a .44 Mag cartridge in his .45 Blackhawk ---- pop, pop, pop, BOOOOM ---- then stunned silence and looks of confusion -- but didnt hurt anything -- the outcome could have been worse if it was the other way around though)

Welcome aboard! What a great little lever-action to start with! A Henry H100L was my son's first lever.

We are all trying to catch up with Griff.
I have 15-16 rifles just in .30-30 caliber and a bunch of other calibers as well like 5 in .45 Colt (or is that LONG COLT ?? )
Hang in there, you will catch up.

Howdy,
Yep, those Henry 22's are cheap to shoot great little guns and you are correct, they don't need any thing done to them. But, beware, if you hang out here long you will get the urge to tinker with it eventually. you won't be able to resist. It's a virus that only occurs here on leverguns.

Re: I am a Newbbie to the leverguns
I have one of those Henry leverguns, and in the back yard it puts the .22 Colibri rounds into the bullseye of the pellet trap every time and is quieter than a pellet gun. I don't know how to have more fun. Henry makes a good .22lr levergun in my opinion.

Welcome to the fire..
My first real levergun was a .22LR Erma, the forerunner of the Henry H001 and a fine rifle too!

Welcome to the fire sir, theres plenty to read and learn here. But be warned, levers are totally addictive along with single action handguns.

Re: I am a Newbbie to the leverguns
You'll soon have your own 'herd' of leverguns, and probably like them and shoot them more than your bolt-actions, pumps, semiautos, etc.
Of course, soon you'll decide you need the BEST .22LR levergun, and get a Ruger 96/22, if you can find one...
It's pictured here wearing the funny-looking red-dot scope that I use for folks who haven't shot a gun before. If they shoot that 'fun' (i.e. 'lever') and non-intimidating (quiet, low recoil) gun off a rest, at a metal flip-up target (less boring to them than paper, and not 'destructive' like shooting cans of water, etc.), pretty soon they're asking for me to load new 10-round magazines faster than they keep emptying them! Of course then I may offer a 50-round extended one, and away we go...
Three or four hours later, typically the new 'recruit' is shooting lever-action .44 Magnums, and handguns, and all sorts of stuff. . . blasting paint cans full of water at 50 yards. . .
...but it was the .22 LR LEVERGUN that got them hooked...!

Welcome and congrats on the H001. I've got one too and it's just a blast to plink with it. So much so that my other 22 rifles are now just safe queens.

Re: I am a Newbbie to the leverguns
Thanks everyone. I have always wanted a levergun. When I bought this Henry, I was originally looking at a S&W mp 15-22. But liked the Henry better. It was the best buy in my opinion.
