Restocking is complete of my 2001 vintage 444 Marlin !

Now all I need to do is decide on "which" 400 grainer to shoot out of it first and whether or not to get it checkered later .

Very nice!

Where did the stocks come from? Or did you make them?

Wow! That is beautiful!
I don't think I'd checker it, if it were me.

Good luck with the bears.

Very nice. I'm interested also in where the wood came from and if you did it yourself. Looks good.

We have a stock duplicator at my friends shop , however when I went looking for wood I couldn't find a blank with as much figure as what I paid for this 95% set !

Got them from "Macon Gunstocks".

http://macongunstocks.net/index.html

I am thinking seriousely about doing the same thing with a standard Marlin 1895 and use it just for the Ballisti Cast 550 grain bullet mold I have coming .

Took the 2001 out wednesday and tried some more 400 grain loads in it and the darned old Weaver V7 called up the ghost !

Put a nice new Redfield 3-9 I had ordered for my Savage 10ML-II on it today so I can continue load testing !

Think I'm gonna order a Redfield 2-7 for the 2001 rifle then put the 3-9 on my Savage 10ML-II and then take the Leupold VX 1 4-12 off the Savage and put it on a Ruger #1B 270 Weatherby !

Here are a couple pics of the 2001 rifle with the Redfield on and my newest Marlin 444 of 1970 vintage and a new to me Weaver KV I just got in the mail today !

The lever action thing has gotten relatively easy if you don't count the bullet molds , since I went to the 45-70 , 444 and 375 WIN .

But when you take into account the 35 or so molds I have for the 444 that kinda negates the whole idea :D

HOW DO YOU decide which boolit to shoot out if :?: I only got 10 molds for all my levers total

GREAT job, but can you also order a slimmer forend from them? I would like to replace the thick forend on my '51 336A. :)

I have TWENTYTWO 444 rifles !

So it isn't a problem .

When I had 90 plus Marlin's I had about a mold or two for each of them .

Now that I'm down to the 444's , a pair of 45-70's and the 375 life is a great deal easier !

The forend on my rifle has been slimmed quite a bit .

I do not know if they make the original 1895/1894/1893 forend or not .

I'm fairly settled on my Mountain Molds 433-400GC with a heavy charge of Varget !

The LBT 433-400GC seems to have a liking for a pretty decent charge of RL-7 .

So all thats left is for me to put forth the time and effort to try out the NEW BRP Ranch Dog style 432-400GC and I'll have the only three molds for this rifle figured out

That sure is a pretty stock. It's also kinda gross, in an anti-purist sort of way. But pretty just the same. And I bet it's a lot easier to use the scope with that stock. Neat.

A stock duplicator? Can it duplicate any stock?

Hmmmm, I've got an old JC Higgins (FN Mauser) that needs a new stock. It is actually just the opposite of your project. It was originally made to shoot with iron sights, and I want it to stay on that sight plane. I'll just duct tape a small stuffed animal on it, when I need to use a scope, to lift my head to the right elevation.

Dunno what to tell you !

I was looking on their webpage last week as I'm thinking about doing the same thing with a newer Marlin 1895 .

No problem, I'm "conversing" with Bryan via email and the Miroku PG stock and forend are going to him for duplication early next week.

Well I have saitsfactory hunting loads worked up for the 2001 rifle !

The first is with the Mountain Molds 433-400GC and Varget .

The second is with the LBT 433-400GC and Varget again !

Now when and if I can get a chance I need to start shooting the BRP RD style 432-400GC !
