OT'ish - Top ten movie guns

I found this discussion about the top ten movie weapons.

As much as I enjoyed it, it occurred to me that not a single levergun (or other old west-type firearm) is mentioned.

So...here's some of my iconic faves (leverguns and otherwise).

*Steve McQueen's 'Mare's Laig' cut down Winchester
*John Wayne's large loop Winchester in True Grit
*Tom Selleck's .45-110 Sharps in Quigley
*...just about any sawed-off double barrel shotgun.... (Eldorado, Mad Max, Desperado, Lightning Jack)
*Clint Eastwood's silver snake inlaid cartridge converted 1851 in the "Man with No Name" movies.
*Arnold's cut down Winchester 1887 shotgun from Terminator 2

What are some of y'alls?

Both of Marlon Brando's guns in "Missouri Breaks" - what did Jack Nicholson call the revolver - his "cabbage shootin' Mexican pistola" or something like that...?

Quigley's rifle is tops for me - of course, the 1860's that Marsten carried were pretty nice.

I don't remember any lever guns, but I really enjoy the movie "The Mummy" for all the cool guns Brendan Frasier's character keeps in his gun roll.

This falls under the "otherwise" category. Sgt. Blaine Cooper's weapon.

When I saw this in the movie Predator when I was a kid, I thought that was the coolest thing I'd ever seen.

Oddest real gun I've seen in a movie = Calico 9mm pistol (100 round magazine is standard) - in Total Recall.

Gotta love Josey Wales' pistols (never could count exactly how many he had).

Automag in one of the Dirty Harry flicks was over-rated, but kinda cool.

And of course, the Model 29 of Harry's.

Still - can't top the Minigun - if I ever won the big lottery, I'd get one

I liked The Duke's 15.5 inch Winchester '92 in Stagecoach. It's a shame that you have to pay an SBR tax on such a gun now.

Quigley, of course.

I liked the "Potato Digger" in Rough Riders, along with the Krags our boys were carrying.

More favorites are the Springfield 1903 sniper rifle in Saving Private Ryan, and the Mosin Nagant 91/30 sniper rifle in Enemy at the Gates.

Wasn't there a film recenty with Mark Wahlberg and a 50 BMG? I only saw parts of it, but it looked pretty cool!

I liked the 1876 Winchester musket that Selleck used in Crossfire Trail. He had a nice ivory gripped open topped Colt in that movie too.

Millions now remember Gus McCrae's Walker Colt in Lonesome Dove(originally a Dragoon in the book). Also, Glenn Campbell's Sharps Carbine in True Grit used to be pretty popular among Western fans back in the 70's and 80's. Ripped up the Turkey and killed the horse pretty good

the sharps in Josie Wales ,the sharps in Quigley ,the sharps in Lonesome Dove (the guy thats shooting at Gus),the sharps and bolt gun in Crossfire Trail.the bolt guns and savage in Joe Kidd.the martini with a scope in Hidalgo,The henry with a scope and the sharps in The Good Bad and Ugly,The henry with a scope in Wild Wild West.The holland and holland rifle Captain Falconer gets killed over in Dead mans Walk.the martinis with scopes(falsely identified as a Borchardts)in the Hunting Party.The gun that Joey Garza uses in Streets of laredo(Dosen't James Garner have a Hi wall that he shoots mox mox with?).......are we seeing a pattern here?

Among those three movies the 1851 was only in The Good The Bad and The Ugly. The other two movies were 5.5" .45 Colt SAAs or clones.

Though not a movie, to the others mentioned I'd add Sargeant Saunders' 1928A1 Thompson--

The father-son pair of Henrys in Silverado(one engraved the other plain), Josey Wales, Sharps with scope, Quigly's Sharps. Any WWII American weapon. The M4's and M14 sniper rifle in Tears of the Sun.

For the films I watch, I mostly see stuff like: Enfields, Garands, AK's, Mosin's, K98's and the such.

I liked the Mosin in Enemy at the Gates, and the I believe it was a Springfield that the sniper was carring in Saving Privat Ryan. All good.

Hey FALPhil , I think ALL M. 92's are C&R legal. I believe the ATF has a listing in their manual that has the less than 16' barreled guns listed separately as exempt. Also many of the M.94 commeratives are in this listing too as well as some specially produced guns of other makes. I don't know what the proceedure is, I'll look it up tomorrow and post it.

Yep, the Yamato/ Argo has a rifled barrel, too, but without a twist to the rifling.

I think the Andromeda was the coolest EDF cruiser, with two Wave Motion Guns:

Did you ever see Final Yamato? They pluged the barrel of the Wave Gun, from the inside, to turn the Yamato into a giant bomb, in order to save Earth:

Did you know that George Lucas denies watching Space Cruiser Yamato before he started filming Star Wars. So many people thought that Star Blazers was a ripoff of Star Wars, but Lucas made Sci-Fi fashionable, again, so some industrious Americans imported Yamato for us youngsters to see. It was on TV too briefly, though.

It just never clicked. I wasn't a huge fan, I just used to catch it all the time at a friends house who was. (Who oddly enough now has no recollection of the show?) I was big into Battle of the Planets at the time.

I guess this dates me, but I first remember seeing a Sharps wielded by Burt Lancaster in "Valdez is Coming," and have really liked single-shot rifles ever since. I guess Glen Campbell's Sharps in "True Grit" was also quite a while back, but it seems I saw Valdez first. Valdez also made good use of his double shotgun! The Martini-Henry rifles in "Zulu" and "Zulu Dawn" made quite an impression on me, too. Being a Texan, of course, I very much admired Davy Crockett's long-range riflery skills in John Wayne's version of the Alamo, which in my time growing up was regarded as akin to holy scripture, rather than historical fiction.
