Winchester Dual Bond Loaded .45-70 Ammo

Post by Pete44ru »

I was wondering if any members have had the chance to try Winchester's new Dual Bond slugs, or factory loaded ammo in their .45-70 leverguns ? (even though it's also made in several other bigbores like .44Mag, .454, .460 & .500S&W)

http://www.winchester.com/library/news/ ... dLine.aspx

It's reportedly an internal jacketed bullet with a lead core that's "welded" (soldered ?) in, inserted & attached to a second, outer jacket with a notched HP that results in 12 petals/peels during penetration/expansion (3 from the internal jacket, 3 from the outer one), and retains 95% of it's weight.

Wow - That's a LOT more bloodshot meat than I care for, but it WAS with a Dual Bond 12ga shotgun slug, so maybe it goes with the terrirory.

Thanks for the link, Tycer. :)

There have been 3 deer shot here in TX on "writers hunts". Deer from 35 yds to 100 yds. Bullets were recovered and weigh 370,366,371gr respectively. You'd think a bonded 375gr would exit a deer. Win still wont release the factory velocity yet.
