I was in the saddle and the saddle was on the red horse you see in my profile pic.

We were coming up out of a dry creek bed that is about ten feet below the rest of the pasture. Ol' Red got a little spooky and started bucking on the incline. He went down on his right shoulder. He landed lightly on my right knee and I landed not so lightly on my face.

He didn't run off, settled down and came back to me. After the bloody nose quit flooding my cotton bandana, I got on him and rode to the barn. I took a fresher photo w/ my cell, but I can't transfer it to the computer yet.

I bet I'm a different color tomorrow.

Hah - gotta roll off the front!! My friend has a smaller horse he likes me to ride because he's a pain in the *** (read: he's smarter than most!).

That darn thing has rolled me over the front of him going up hills 3 times! Luckily the worst that has happened is he "lightly" stepped on my hand once as he was recovering his balance.

Hope you have a quick recovery - I bet you won't look too worse for the wear tomorrow.

I could tell many a tale of getting off a horse the hard way. Most happened somewhere around Richland Springs or Ding Dong (Bell County).

Get thee to the local tree hugger store (although many rural regular pharmacies carry it) and get some Arnica Montana homeopathic 200C if they have it or 30C if they don't. Also get some Arniflora or Arnicare cream or gel and put on it. Arnica works wonders on bruising and internal tissue damage. The 200C is for deep stuff like you got and aint needed for light stuff. The 30C works on deep stuff too, just not as fast nor as long.

OUCH! Back when I was young and dumb, healed a lot quicker then too, I played around riding bare-back and saddle broncs. Got a few strains and sprains, and a couple of pretty good bruises doing it. (But man did the cowgirls like limping riders

) By far the worst dings I ever got involving a horse was on one of my own saddle mounts. Little Corona salve on those will work wonders.

When i first read the post....I thought we got a real broncstompper here.....
and this ought to be good rodeo story.

One of my buddies just had his hip replaced because his horse rolled
over backwards on him and broke his leg and hip...

hes not a broncstompper anymore.....

Tom, glad to hear your okay. Riding horses always has the ability to turn into an adventure. You'll be all colored up today.

Bill, now I know why they call you Booger Bill. Ouch.

I've got some pictures around here somewhere of a couple times I unexpectedly hit the ground breaking the two cayuses I have now. Nothing broke, but boy howdy was I bruised up. I was in the saddle on one of those times too. Latigo ripped and saddle started to roll. Hit the bottom rung of my round pen panel with my left bicep area.

I'd be taking a dose of aspirin for the next week or so. Don't want any clots building up and busting loose. Kill a guy deader than a rock.

Cows, I'm betting you're gonna be pretty as ever, did something similar years ago executing the 5/8ths backflip in the living room. Rug sort of wipes the skin off but I think you'll be looking fine out with your new BBQ gun that you ought to get to help the healing along.

Sorry to hear about the Ouchie. It'll look better pretty quick. I always want my ouchies to look as good as they feel

Also if you use ice to soak your head in make sure it has something good to drink in it.

Red is one of those horses that just "sees snakes". That's why I got him cheap. Somebody tried using him as a kid horse and, well, that wasn't a good idea.

This was our first wreck in the four years I've had him.

Bill, it didn't gross me out. I don't think I could see anything anymore that'd gross me out. It sure looks like it hurt though. Sorry to hear about the cancer. That's tough stuff. I sure pray someone comes up with a cure for that stuff. Our family has had to deal with three bouts of that stuff within the last two years. Daughter and two sisters in law. Mother had a double mastectomy years ago. Bad stuff.
