OT: When "it" hits the fan... I'm going to Pitchy's place!!
Over the last 2 weeks, we've seen these handmade by Pitchy...
* Matchlock rifles and handguns
* Knives and tomahawks
* Rope maker and rope
* Toboggans, sleds and skis
I have no idea if he can hunt & cook game, but heck, I can do that. So combined with his handyman skills, I think we just might survive it.
(Whatever "it" is...................)
I have to say, it's people like him, with a steady hand, a sharp eye and a desire to make something out of nothin', that build things that made things and then made this country great. Not like the mocha-latte-loving-cell-phone-talking-computer-tablet-using-take-it-all-but contribute-nothing degenerates we see too often today.
So... Hats off to Pitchy. I am impressed by your craftsmanship.

ps: It'd be even better if you were in Maine... But I've got a hunch you're west of here -- far west, maybe...

Been in Minn. Pitchy but only for the Mosquito season in Brainerd. Very interesting - the stuff that you do. Is that Mrs Pitchy with you, and the weiner dog mushy. Cable TV would likely pick this up as a series. YOU could be in Hollywood. No snow there.

Ive had this old Howel saw mill for 25 years or so, my uncle cut down a big old white pine every year and brought the logs over for the wife and i to saw. These logs were big and heavy and by the time we got done wrestling them around we were covered with pitch.ollogger wrote:really like your talent, i was figrn pitchy had something to do with timber

Hey Pitchie, how do you dry your lumber? Got a kiln, or just wait it out?

Just wait it out, in the case of those maple planks it`s going to be a while, i`m hoping they make a stock or two. They call that maple something with that grain like that but for the life of me i can`t remember.jeepnik wrote:Hey Pitchie, how do you dry your lumber? Got a kiln, or just wait it out?

No it`s the maple tree in the first picture if that`s what your referring to.
They call that wood something when it`s in that stage of rotting, i`ll think of it soon, old age ya know

After a nights rest I see that what I thought was fiddleback was just saw marks.

I`m no wood expert and have no idea what the wood can be used for, i`ll let it dry and see what it looks like. I sawed it into three by six by eight feet so it will take a while.
